Check the bore!!

Post by ollogger »

Few weeks ago a buddy came over & wanted me to shoot his Ruger American in 223, so I was happy to do it as ive never
been around one, the gun had the normal amount of Wyoming dust on it, so I decided to look down the bore & I could only see
a sliver of light through it, so I go to the house & run a cleaning rod down the pipe & a section of another rod drops out, so I say
where to %@%%@ did this come from? Well he stuck a steel case in the chamber & had his buddy get it out, the male thread on that
section was bent & lightly jammed in the bore is why it was hung up & needed a tap to push it out
I asked him if he ever made this guy mad at one time??? 2nd question was do you have any idea what would of happened if you or
I would have shot that gun?

It's a good thing you checked the bore. That would have been disastrous.

Just one more example of reasons to check the bore. Your friend needs to buy you a good meal for your possibly saving his eyesight.

I keep reminding myself never to clean guns or work on them after 14 beers....that was probably what happened----we forget what we did last night.

I've been around a lot of those Ruger Americans and everyone was very accurate.----6
