New Knee

Post by M. M. Wright »

Well if all goes well I get my new knee in the morning. I check in at 6:15 AM. I had it scheduled about 3 months ago but doctors decided I needed a couple of vessels on my heart bypassed to be sure I lived through the knee surgery. Got the heart thing done so now it's time for the knee. I'd love having your prayers, mostly for the crew in the OR.

I sure will be praying for you and those working on you. I have had a lot of trouble with this 79 year old heart since June. The good Lord has seen fit to leave me here with my wife and family awhile longer and I thank him every day, many time a day.

Prayers up for you!

"Get up soon", as soon as they tell you, then do whatever they say for PT and recovery.

My mother had both done at the same day, and she had really good luck with "Mederma" cream, that she rubbed into her scars daily, and it really helped those to mostly disappear. Sure, that's secondary to the recover to get mobility back without pain, but some folks don't want large scars and that cream seemed to help.

Good luck.

Prayers up for sure!

As OldNo7 noted, follow the PT religiously, and move as much as your pain level will permit. You will be much better off for doing so.

Good luck!

Prayers sent.

I had my knee replaced 6 months ago and everything went well. This type of surgery is now old hat. I actually had surgery at 7 am and walked in my front door at 12:30.

Do the P.T. and follow orders. I have seen a bunch of people have knee replacements, and the ones who do the P.T. properly heal faster and with less pain.

Well thank guys. Got it done th.f is morning and am still in hospital. Maybe go home tomorrow. Feels really good compared to the way it was before. I'll gladly to the PT and whatever else it takes to get it back to normal. I want to shoot some more cowboy matches.

Does this look familiar? This was last year, I can walk, but no more jumping out of the back of the pickup...

That long incision will just leave another wisdom line.

The Physical Therapy is going to cause some discomfort. How much is as individual as can be. While you are doing it, keep setting goals you can reach and then setting new ones. The worst part is already over, and you have some members here who have gone through it before you, and they are letting you know what to expect from their own experience. We all support you. Yes it sounds a little goofy, but it does help to know you have friends cheering you on.

That incision looks longer than the one on my chest.

And do you know what the wisdom is. It's simple, I'm never, ever gonna do this again.

Glad everything went well. Now comes the fun part - rehab  The first two weeks are the hardest. Stay on top of your pain meds. My PT told me to take my pain meds 30 minutes before therapy.
