Finding a 1873 SRC in 38-40

Post by Shrapnel »

After months of looking for the right 1873 SRC, I finally found one. Finding a 1873 SRC with any condition is hard enough, but to find it in 38-40 is even harder. My research turns up less than 6000 were made in 38-40. It is a nice gun...

Finding any '73 SRC in any caliber with that kind of condition is a tough one....and the ones you do find seems like the owners know what they have. Nice snag Shrapnel....must be a mid to north eastern gun.-

They really knew how to make a wood to metal fit in those days----6

Dang, when you said yours was made in '91, it rang a bell as one of mine was also made in '91, also a 38. Wonder if they are close serial numbered brothers.

That is a fine one. I've been hankerin' for it's twin in 44-40 for a while now with no luck. At least not one I can afford or trade into. I'm envious   .

Nice! Wow.
I have a 73 SRC in .38 but it has WAY less finish than your beauty. It does, however, have a super bore and action.
The .38 was way more popular than .44 in my neck of the woods..........thankfully.

Went to the LGS today. There was an 1873 hanging above all the bolt guns. Upon closer inspection, it's a 38 also! Looks decent although I didn't take it down.
