It's a Marlin 12R

That's an extra aperture screwed into the side knob.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

I take it the arch of metal between the side knob and the sight is an elevation indicator...???

If you own the gun that sight fits on and need one, that's a very desirable sight!

Did Marlin make the sight or did they have it made?

There are several sights on eBay right now that have that indicator arch on it.
Several are listed as being for Marlin firearms.
They look similar to Lyman sights...so it would be interesting to know who made them.
