Rem. 81- 35 range report

Post by Pitchy »

Seems to be shooting day, took the Rem 81 out for a few shots, used the peep and got a pretty good group.
Sights on different guns are all different, can see some better than others that`s what happens when ya start aging and it`s no big deal just getting out and shooting is what counts.

Video.

Lenn, I have had several Model 8s and an 81 over the years. Had them in .30, .32 and .35 and liked them all. Never could find one in .25 Remington with a good bore at a good price. Wonderful woods guns. Boy, the light, the leaves and the breeze in your video sure do spell fall, don't they?

Thanks Bill, yep fall is in the air won`t be long but that`s ok I like winter.
Yep the 81 is a neat rifle, this is the only one I`ve ever owned, never had a 8 but would like to.

I enjoyed that video. That is a beaut of a classic rifle. I know what you are saying about that front sight being hard to see at our age.
Kirk: An old geezer who loves the smell of freshly turned earth, old cedar rail fences, wood smoke, a crackling fireplace on a snowy evening, pristine wilderness lakes, the scent of
cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester.

Cool rifle Pitchy....and in a super cool cartridge........that's one gun I've never owned as we seldom see them in this area, mostly because Pa. has always been a "manual action" state. ---6

The 8's and 81's were fairly popular up here, but always in .35, which is held in high regard in these parts.
See a lot of 336's in that chambering too, along with Remington 141's.
