Pitchy's the best!

Post by OldWin »

Ole Pitchy and I yack back and forth pretty regular. As you all know, he is a first rate guy with uncanny talent and imagination.
The other day I was checking out some pics he'd sent me, when I noticed and complimented his cool weathervane.
So what's my buddy do? He climbs up on the roof, gets it down to use as a pattern, and promptly makes me one!
Arrived this morning. I am touched beyond words. I will think of my friend every time I see it.
You're the best, Lenn. Thank you.

Very nice work! Pitchy is a good man, and very talented.

I'm glad buddy! Yeah, it is so pretty here this time of year. A warm day is a treat when you get to see it with the scooter.
Problem is, I'm so busy this time of year getting everything ready for winter and hunting season. Lucky if we get any bird hunting in. I pulled the soft top off the Jeep but havent got the hard top on yet. Had to ride out the son's house yesterday so we took it. Wasnt too bad, but we werent sweating by any means!

You've got fall colors? I need to drive up into the mountains to see if the aspens are turning yet.
Good on you, Lenn, for fixing up OldWin.

Yes! I could not agree more. Pitchy has a heart of gold....and......you don't even have to ask him....he sees something you might like and the next thing you know, it's arriving at the door.

Well, almost.
I get up there Friday morning and another guy from Indiana shows up. We shot together all day and then he went back to his hotel room ("The No-Tell Motel"). So here it is about 9pm and I'm at at the Ridgway gunclub by myself. It's raining. Pitch black. No one else came. The clubhouse is locked up tight. I'm pizzed. So....I break out this 12 pack of Yuengling and start chugging away.....12am and I'm really pizzed by now. I eat cold Chunky Soup, some pears, and another few Yuenglings. My inner dialog says, "I'm going home".

I start to get ready to leave when I almost fell down after standing up from a shooting bench. Mmmm...better not drive up here in Redneck Land......I find a storehouse of some kind, complete with mice, throw down my Cott and sleeping bag and pass out. Next morning some guy comes in after seeing the Jeep outside and says, "ya better get ready, it's 9 am" :D . Within an hour about 20 guys show up and I'm there with a pounding head. More to come....I still have no unpacked the Jeep yet from the 5 hour drive. There's 15 guns that are wet and put away like that.

Sure is fun getting old...can't do much of anything anymore except whine, shoot, and drink beer. :D -----Me.

Pitch....I'm home...got in about 10 last night.....I may be "safe", but I'm sure not "sound". I could only imagine how I would feel with you and Old Win. showing up after drinking the stuff you guys are known for. :D in fact, if you boys were there, I'd still be there, too.....might as well make a week out of it.----6. Whew, got up at noon today and got everything back down in the gunroom by 5. Now I got to start sorting out 800-1000 30-06's, 30-30's, 44-40's, .223's, 25-20's, and empty .22 L.R. brass.....(did I say .22 l.r. brass?)

We HAVE to get together along with some more of the boys here. The club is open to anybody that weekend and several days before the match's........btw, these are not "matches".....no NRA books or any kind of formalities other than gun safety. I figure Pitchy, Griff, Blaine, OI, Old Sav, Ollogger, along with Boots, (can't forget Boots), Old Win., Woody, Press, Leroy, Jamal.(who are they?.) Ford-wannabe, Ysable Kid...on an on...anybody here who has free time and a couple of thousand rounds of ammo.

We could camp out, have a kick-butt campfire, consume excessively large amounts of alcohol....and shoot until the cows come home...minimum of three days, probably 5.

Good 'ole Jack (senior) Kort will be the ramrod and I'll be th official club drunk (after Pitchy). Whatcha think boys? ---6

I gotta tell ya buddy, that sounds like a time!
Can you imagine all us throwback hillbillies sittin around a campfire? That's one of the few images that could get my lazy butt outta Maine.
Ole Pitchy and me lament often that we are so spread out.
There is a little over 500 miles between you and I, which wouldn't be bad if the driving wasn't through enemy territory. :D
Be cool to have you boys come up. I got a couple hundred acres in a slice of hillbilly paradise where we could camp out, fish, shoot the place up, and not be bothered. Only thing.....you'd have to haul up the Yuengling.....and that's a long way. :D

Wouldn't there be someone near by who could have room in the vehicle to swing by and give Pitchy a ride? If the get together is someplace where I can do it, I will try. Just have to get the time off. Being too young to retire and having bills to pay sort of limits my time for shooting and such to when I get time off.
