Killed a small Nine point

Post by EdinCT »

I went out back this morning and got this small nine point with my Excalibar 355 crossbow. He went away (150 yards) even though double lunged. After the uphill drag I am glad he wasn't bigger and he is the first deer I've shot with a drop tine out of around 125 or more. Meat in the freezer is good :D

Good job! You'd have to do a lot of hunting to find a better buck than that here in NZ.

For interest's sake, here is the best whitetail buck ever taken over here:

.

I'm glad to hear you were successful, Ed - heart-healthy venison is tops IMO.

My Son also went out Sat AM with his Carbon Express X-bow, but only saw a few very small skippers, and so passed for now (he regularly takes a full limit of 8 per year).

He said the humidity seemed to keep down deer movement (IDK, as I've been in A/C for the past 2 weeks)

High quality protein. It just doesn't get any better.
