Heart-cath and an old heart

Post by JerryB »

had a heart-cath done at the hospital yesterday. Doctor said my heart was clean no need for a stent. He said most of my problems with short breath was because I have an old worn out heart. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks to see what they come up with.
Reckon I could use some prayer from ya'll thanks.

Read "Metabolic Cardiology" by Sinatra, and look up a local provider of ECP treatments (external counter-pulsation).

Both may offer different types of help.

JerryB, talk to your doctor about getting into cardiac rehab. Most people who have a heart attack or get stents are put in it. I was after getting three stents...all at one time. It makes a dramatic improvement in heart function. I was in there with people who had a large variety of cardiac problems and they all benefitted from it. I saw a lot of people in there who really made some improvements by going two or three days a week for a couple of months. They hook you up to monitors and a nurse watches everyone while they exercise. They base your exercise program on your personal heart function and condition. If you have insurance or are on Medicare they should cover the cost of it. See what your doctor says. Probably a lot more miles in that heart than you realize. I wish you the best of luck with this.

I'm glad your heart's OK - I had a heart cath 3 weeks ago that showed my 2 old stents were OK, but I have 5 new heart artery blockages, which means open-heart bypass surgery for me, just after Labor Day.

Sometimes, shortness of breath can be remedied (as noted above) with moderate/supervised exercise - as long as the lungs are good to go.

Good Luck & prayers for your speedy recovery, Jerry. :)

Prayers up. There are devices you can purchase at Drug Stores to help work your lungs and improve your breathing. Vitamin C helps to build connective tissue. It may help improve lung function. Some albuterol may be of use. Stay as active as possible. In the meantime, get your lung function thoroughly checked.

JerryB,

Prayers up for sure. I will be praying too that the Doctor's do an adequate job. May God shine his light upon you them and you.
