A little range time with a new 1911

Post by 2ndovc »

I bought a new Colt at a small shop that was closing up about a month ago. Dodged a couple small thunderstorms but had the place to myself.

Once I settled down things went well. Too much coffee this morning.

Ammunition was from a case of Remingtons I bought a few years ago. Burnt up several magazines plinking at the various targets. Everthing worked perfectly!
This is Colt # 4 that I've bought over the last year and they've all been great shooters. I have an Argentine 1911A1/ System 1927 on the way. Can't wait to get my hands on it! Slowly replacing what was lost.

When it is not raining down here it has been about a 1,000% humidity. Looks like a nice day up your way!

Excellent photos.
Boy I would love another try with one!

Before the ban a young feller just acquired one and was struggling to get a group at the 25 yard range.
He asked if I would like a clip full, sure I said.
I only went and got seven in a 2&1/2" group!

You know that look on a person's face when they are relieved, worried and embarrassed all at the same time, well that fellow had that look!

Nath, reckon you can still do it with one.

Good looking 1911. I have been wanting to pick up a 1911 for myself. I have not owned one in many years.

Nice!
My son has the exact same pistol. Runs like a champ.

You may be surprised at how accurately that Argentine shoots ,if it is the one without the grip safety. Mine will embarrass Gold Cup and Customer Kimber jobs. Trigger pull is like a glass rod without that safety. Hope yours is the same.

No, it's not a Molina ( without the safety) but a true 1911A1 model made in Argentina under license from Colt. I've had several and had two very nice ones that were sold off while I was very ill and in the hospital. The new one should be here soon. I've also had a couple of the Molinas. Nice pistols but my preference is for the System 27/ 1911. :D
