Asleep at the wheel

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Just noticed that Ruger sells a three-inch GP-100 in .44 Special. I don't know how I missed this.

Ya musta been too busy, selling yer other guns, Bill....................... ;)

FWIW, I've not been tempted, as I'm pretty happy with my CA .44BD.

If I wanted a SA, though, I believe that I'd go with the .44 Special Flat-Top Ruger New Blackhawk.

Nice five shooter. My lgs had one about six months back but I had other commitments for the money. I have six GP 100s in various configurations and want the .44 Sp. also.

I have one. Great shooting pistol! Plenty of elevation in the sights to let you put 240+ cast booklets on target with elevation to spare. If I didn't already have my 5 hole Freedom 97 for carry in the woods, (killed a big doe with it a couple years back) this would be perfect for a hunting sidearm. The 97 is 45 Colt..same difference 44 special. Both great choices for the woods.
This is plagiarized from someone else, but I love it!

I was born a gun owner.
It wasn't a choice.
I didn't become one later in life.
I was born this way.

Shop here has one. Nice handling piece. Would really like it with a 5" barrel though. Todd
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

There is also a blue 5 inch available.

I looked at a review of one of these, and it looked pretty good. The cheapskate in me says I could buy two Charter Bulldogs for what the Ruger costs. I know some people
like to bash Charter Arms but I have had one of the original Bulldog classics since 1975 or so. While I no longer carry it, it has always gone bang whenever I pulled the trigger. When I was a new, poor Deputy, it was my first backup until a few years later when I could afford a Colt Cobra to replace it. If not for the bulldog I would be interested. God Bless.⛪
