PhotoBucket - coming to YOU next....!!!
I really wouldn't mind PAYING for such a photo-hosting service, IF IT WORKED....
I get the 'pay a membership fee and avoid the pop-up ads' thing, and IF THE SERVICE WORKED instead of locking up all the time, I'd GLADLY pay to get rid of the pop-ups.
They just lost another customer.
I just wish their competition was better - none of the other sites have a very user-friendly interface, and none of them seem to allow much in the way of 'photo organization'.
I can't see the appeal of Imgur either, unless I'm missing the 'features' and 'interface' part...

Re: PhotoBucket - coming to YOU next....!!!
I found a way to make jpgbox.com work for me.
It is barebones simple BUT there are no ads, it is no-cost. response is very good.
After some time playing around and making some mistakes, I can do anything that I did on PB and have even begun replacing PB links with jpgbox links in some old posts that are still active.
Take a look at it and see what you think.

I deleted everything on PB and opened an account on Imgur. Don't care if I can find the old photos....I have the memories.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

Imgur. All it has to do is work. I have already forgotten Photothingy.

Folks should get used to the idea that "free" account holders are not "customers" (those who pay for whatever), and exist at the pleasure of the website host.
I've been using PB, Imgur & postimage.org for quite awhile, after I lost hundreds of pics when villagephotos went belly up.
PB has been sluggish for me over the past year or so, and my PB pics haven't yet been replaced by the upgrade ad that other folks got.
However, in an abundance of caution, I've now finished downloading copies (not deleting) all my PB pics (I have 2 PB accounts) to a file on my laptop, then later uploading some (so far) of those to imgur - which I find E-Z-Peazy to use (after I bumbled my way through the protocols), and which meets my needs just fine.

Yep. $400 a year to host my avatar and an occasional blog pic? Might have to look elsewhere.
Kind regards,

I got the same notice.
I'll be checking through my picks and videos and pulling any off I don't have elsewhere then closing the FB account.

I guess it is nice to be at the end of the alphabet for once!
Also nice to hear it wasn't just me. PB NEVER worked smoothly for me. Like Doc, I would have considered going to the paid subscription, if it was reasonable, but only if I knew it would actually work worth a darn. I had no confidence that it would.

Re: PhotoBucket - coming to YOU next....!!!
I removed all my pictures on Photobucket before deleting my account with them. I wasn't about to pay their ransom demands to see my pictures again. I opened a Imgur account but also discovered I already had a long forgotten account with Snapfish, Flickr, and Google Photos (fka Picasa). I probably had over a 1000 pictures on Photobucket before they went into pirate mode. Fortunately I wasn't storing pictures there, just posting them to forums from there so all the originals still intact though finding and copying them all in these hosting sights a pain in the 'okole.
