Nice! Looks like a good shooter from here.
All the Marlins of that vintage I've had certainly were.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

Thanks SIX -- I don't smoke (but maybe I should start?), but helping someone on this forum find what they're looking for makes my day. I too liked that old Marlin 336 .32 Special, if I wasn't such a 30/30 guy I would have bought it myself--I hunted with a friend that had a similar vintage Marlin in .32 Special, but with a 20" barrel, he was lights out with it in the Catskill Mt's in NYS... :)

Mr. Ford,

Information needed on a 1948 - 336A. This one has a 24" barrel, half magazine with the forend and butt stock being checkered. Chambered for the great 30-30 WCF. My question is this. How do I tell the differences between an A ond the SC.

Thanks for your time.

The SC model were the "sporting carbine" only available in 20" barrels. The A model came only in 24" barrel. Usually they are marked on the barrel too.

Yup Mainehunter got it. Remember also there is a model 36 and a 336. 36 has a flat bolt like a 93. 336 has a round bolt.
