To those which carry here, what do you carry?

Best regards, Skychief

Mostly, Para Ordnance 'P-14' 1911 - hard to go wrong with 15 rounds of 45 ACP in a reliable century-old design. I find the tiny increase in grip girth (3/16") makes the grip a better shape, and the gun much easier to get a rapid sight picture with than this standard single stack 1911.

I'm lucky enough to live in a pro-carry state, and be self-employed, so 'concealability' isn't an issue. The aluminum alloy frame is strong and light, offsetting the half-pound of lead in the magazine. I've carried it for 25 years or so, and honestly sometimes have to reach around to check to be sure it is there, because I am so used to the weight I barely notice it.

For a bit smaller 'Officer Model' package, I have a P-12 to carry If I want to step down to 12 round magazines, and the capacity is not an issue so sometimes I carry that one, but I have only shot about a thousand rounds through it verses five or six thousand through the P-14, so I have more confidence in the larger gun.

When I want a revolver, I trust my Charter Arms bulldog with Crimson Trace grips, and like the 45 ACP, velocity with the 44 Special is still within the non-deafening range.

Ever since SIG came out with the 938 model that is essentially a sub-compact 1911 in 9mm without the grip safety, I have started to carry it when I wanted something super compact. I wasn't excited about the concept until I found the LeatherAndStuff holster which allowed condition one carry. The little gun is probably the most ergonomic handgun I have ever fired, and I am really impressed with it.

For extreme concealability if I would go jogging or something I would carry a North American Arms mini revolver in 22 WRM.

However, I am redneck enough that if I were to go jogging down the country road I live on, I would probably just carry my Ruger Redhawk 44 Magnum in a paper bag. When I worked as a pharmacist on the night shift in a ghetto and had to walk home, I carried the Charter Arms bulldog in a paper bag for the walk home at 2 a.m., it seemed much more sensible than having to draw from a holster.

My every day carry gun is a Taurus 431 3 inch heavy frame .44spl. For me it is an ideal carry gun. I have put a lot of Skeeter's loads through it, very accurate in my gun. Some times I will carry a RI 1911 .45 When we make the 2 hour trip to Little Rock.

P3AT. Every day. At least 25 rounds a month for nearly a decade. No ftf. Prior to that was an IWB Smith Model 36 flatlatch. Got in the way of my work. Got in the habit of leaving it in the truck.

Casually, around town, it's a Browning Mini-1911 .380.. Hornady or Browning 95-gr HP, magazines hold 8 +1 chambered.. Spare magnetic carries Winchester or Speer 95-gr. FMJ..

For more serious, "social" excursions, a SAA-style chambered for heavy .45 Colt loads, with 12 or 24 spare rounds in cartridge loops on a belt..

always carry a gun & most of the time its a 642 S&W 38, put it in the back pocket & go
summer time I will wear a shirt not tucked in to conceal, been with me at least 9 years
I do pack a LC9 some times when I feel the need for more fire power plus the extra mag
is some what of a comforter, for out side work around home most likely its a beat up old 357 sa
that maybe I could hit a coyote at 50yds where there is no chance of worrying it with either
the S&W or the LC9 but is fun trying, in snake season any of them will have one snake load in it & yes the
LC9 will cycle them

I just recently picked up a S&W 442, but I also have a S&W 915 that carries nicely in a Dan Hume OWB holster with a light jacket for an over garment.

I prefer a mousegun for EDC. I have a 317 22 AirLite, A 37 Airweight, and my EDC for quite awhile, an LCP.

When I'm out on the Forest Service Roads, or in the boondocks, a 45acp of some flavor is along, and a long gun of some sort.

(If the LC9 had been out at the time, I'd have prolly got that instead of the LCP)

Colt Cobra, usually in a pocket holster. Loaded with +P 38 Specials that have 125 grain XTPs. A speed loader full of the same load and a Kershaw lock back clipped in my hip pocket.

Above is my church, go to town stuff. Around the place it be almost anything from a Browning Buckmark 22 to an FAL. My favorite is an old Colt Bisley in 41, tucked in the back pocket of my bibbies.

Glock 26 or a Sig 238 depending on where I'm going. There's usually a Glock 17 or a 1911 in my back pack though. I've been thinking lately of buying a Colt Defender because I've always been a .45ACP guy.
I have a Beretta 21a / .22lr I'll carry walking the dogs or working around the yard.

From October till May, it's between a Colt LW Commander or a 2.5" RB S&W 19. If I'm running out for minute, I cram a Springfield Armory Micro Compact .45 in my waistband Mex style.

In summer, I've made an effort the last couple years to get away from mouse guns. I carry the above mentioned SA Micro or a Glock 19 appendix.

Woods carry? Holy smokes a bunch, from Colt SAA 45, SA 1911, S&W 629, S&W 66, the above LW Commander, or Glock 21SF.

Currently kind of in-between, so it is either my wife's LCR in .22 Magnum, or my -- wait for it -- French Model 1935-A in .32 French Long. This is a Charles Petter (think SIG) variant on John Browning's genius.

For almost 30 years my carry gun has been a Model 60 S&W .38 Special. If it's cold enough to wear a coat I occasionally carry my S&W 745 .45ACP, but it's too big to conceal well in light clothing.

Hmm..... depends.

Makarov in 9mmMAK.
Comfortable to carry in a Fobus paddle holster. Reliable as the proverbial
rock, although not that powerful.

Or....

Hi-Power. Nice gun. Very nice gun, and superior to the 1911 in
some ways. Simply Rugged holster. Mag disconnect disconnected,
replaced the mainspring with the original design strength, upped the
recoil spring strength, and polished a couple of things. Removed a
burr from the hammer. Trigger is now okay. Not great, but okay for
a combat trigger. Didn't touch the hammer or sear.

Or....

Rossi R462002 in 357 Mag. Simply Rugged pancake holster. 158 gr. JHP
over 14 gr. of 2400. Very accurate, very comfortable to shoot
with that load. These are built to a price, and do need work, though.
I polished the recoil shoe and a bunch of other stuff, and replaced
the mainspring with a Wolff spring for a S&W J-frame. Very nice
DA trigger now. Not quite angelic, but very good nonetheless. Didn't
touch the hammer or sear here, either.

The mainsprings on both the Hi-Power and the Rossi are so strong from
the factory as to make the guns almost unusable. The original trigger pull
on the Rossi might have been measured in tonnage, and the Hi-Power
wasn't that far off the pace. (On the bright side, if you lose a front spring
on your F350, you've got a handy spare! )

Commander in .45acp, if fishing or working in the Christmas tree plantation ( very sappy and sticky) a 3 inch Rossi model 720 in .44spl, or if I'm being really lazy and hurting, I'll drop my old Beretta 950 in 25acp in my pocket and call it good.

It's been a Glock 20 the last few years, before that it was a Sig P220. I'be been thinking I need to get a high end 1911 though, just because I can. Then again I've been known to conceal a Ruger Vaquero just because I can (not often I do though).

I have a lot of carry guns, but my main carry gun is usually a Colt Lightweight Commander in 45acp in a Milt Sparks IWB holster.
Sometimes it's a 5 inch gun, and sometimes it's a Colt Mustang .380, or a Glock model 22, 40cal, but a lightweight Commander is my hands down most carried, because I have the best holsters for it, and I have probably logged more rounds down range with a 1911 then any other handgun, except for maybe a .22

Actually, the gun in the middle is a steel framed Commander. I forgot it was in that picture.

Here's a Colt Lightweight Commander in a Milt Sparks Summer Special. It's really not any easier to conceal and carry then the 5 inch Springfield, but maybe slightly lighter.

Here's a 4 inch Lightweight Springfield, which used to be my main carry gun, before I acquired several of the others. I swapped out the ILS mainspring housing, and added the ambi-safety and later the wide spur hammer to this one. I usually carry cocked and locked but I set this gun up, so I could carry condition 2, in my wasteband without a holster when the occasion called for it. The wide spur hammer is very easy and positive to cock or un-cock and the tiny GI sights are snag proof, and I can see them pretty good, anyway. So, I never felt the need to upgrade the sights.

Sometimes, I just want to shove a gun in my wasteband and go, and this one serves me well, for that.

In the process of switching from a Smith .40 M&P to the new 2.0 M&P in 9mm, soon's I can scare up a couple more mags, as daily carry.

Fella's, jeez whiz dude's, your just adding to the problem, you don't need to carry a gun. If a misunderstood criminal see's that you are not a threat, they will leave you alone. Besides, guns are scary and dirty.

Generally it's a S&W M&P 40C. For light clothes it might be a Taurus 85 ultra-light. on occasion the Springfield Champion gets the nod.
