I suspect that many of you are Roy Rogers fans as I am.
Wonderful memories!

It's always sad when a beautiful animal dies.

Growing up in the 50s Roy Rogers and Trigger were silver screen heroes of mine. It wasn't until I was in my 40s that I got to ride western horses, and later in my fifties I got to ride a Navaho pony in Monument Valley, a childhood dream.
I guess I'm just a frustrated English cowboy... :D
Thanks for posting that tribute to Trigger.

One other place trigger is remembered is on the top of the Denver Broncos stadium.

Roy set agood example for the kids of my era. I can not say the same for many of the western movies made today.

Thanks for the post.

Yes, also Buttercup, Dale's horse. When his museum was in it's original location, Apple Valley Ca, he also had quite a few stuffed animals he had taken. I recall one bear mounted standing was enormous. And, I was just a kid, I was in the USAF at the time.

Nellie Bell and a manikin of Pat Brady sitting in it were there as well. Some of us joked that may be Pat had been stuffed too, and Dale should make sure she out lived Roy.

Apple Valley was off the freeway a bit and at some point the folks running it decided to move it to Victorville right off of and visible from the I15. Attendance didn't really improve and they then moved it to Branson Mo. A while back it was closed and most of the items auctioned off.

While on the topic of western museums, if you ever get to SoCal go to the Autry Museum. It even has some of Roy's stuff there along with memorabilia from many, many western stars.

He was a good one!!

We have a 29 year old stud that goes back to Trigger, great horse but life is catching up with
him also, we don't breed with him any more but I am sure he would still give it a try

Hello John,

How have you been? I often wonder if you're still showing them how to knock those silhouettes over. I have given up on trying to knock 'em over. Matter of fact, I rarely go to a match.

Ah, Trigger, one of my boyhood idols. I was born in 1940 and my parents took me to a lot of Roy Rogers movies. I must have been really young because I can only remember Roy & Trigger, but not Dale. Before I get sidetracked, Trigger was quite the horse. It is truly a shame that Roy's possessions wound up in auction and are now scattered all over the place.

I hope your health is good and I always read your informative posts although I haven't seen any for a while.

Best regards,
Frank
