Prayers for Twyla and Jim Taylor please

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Got an e-mail from Jim that Twyla seems to have had a stroke this morning. They are likely headed for a hospital in South Africa. I know these two loyal servants of "Papa God" would deeply appreciate all thoughts and prayers!

Sorry to bear bad news .. we can use your prayers.

Post by JimT »

Yesterday Twyla had pretty well recovered from the displaced rib episode. She had fallen earlier in the week and suffered the injury. But by saturday she was eating and feeling good. This morning she said she needed help to get up and when I began to get her up I realized her left side was not working. Her speech was slightly slurred. I called the base doctor and he said yes, all the signs of stroke. So we are making preparations to fly to a hospital that can deal with this. At this time I do not know which we will go to but most likely it will be in South Africa.

Please keep us in your prayers. We look to Jesus for everything!!

We are trying to arrange for emergency medical evacuation but the insurance company is dragging their feet.

Thanks for praying.

The insurance called once again. They have set up an airvac via Netcare in Midrand, South Africa. They will take care from everything all the way from Pemba airport to admission in the hospital in Johannesburg. They will get back to me concerning the cost of admittance to the hospital.
The plane will most likely leave early morning in Johannesburg and arrive here about 3 hours later - so mid morning.

Looks like all the phone calls etc. did the trick. One of the Shootists who is a lawyer called them I know.

Here's a note from Jim and Twyla's daughter. Twyla and Jim are currently in South Africa.
"Okay Friends, Dad said I could share, so here is the emergency situation:
The stroke seems to have affected a large portion of the right side of her brain. The heart damage is worse than they thought. They cannot treat it until the brain clot is dealt with. She is slowly losing consciousness; if that goes too far she will have to be put on life support."
