My newest huntin' rig....

Post by stew71 »

...gets released from jail this Friday.....WHOHOO!!!

Image

Probably going to mount a 2x Burris or Nikon scope on it and carry it in a Galco Kodiak rig for chasing these blacktail deer through the high timber of our local Sierra Nevada range. I'll mount a 'Y' bracket to the top of an old ski pole to use as a shooting stick/hiking pole.

Can't wait. Nuthin' like .44 Mag Ruger single action love. Carried one like this while scouting caribou in Alaska a few years ago and swore I'd own one.

Now I am jealous!

I have always wanted to hunt with a wheel gun.
For my small gaming 22, WMR, 32/20 would be fine.

I love mine, it shoots everything I've put through it well except mag tech 240 sjsp. I'll either take the hunter 44 mag or the Python turkey hunting this sat. About a dozen turkeys on my place this year and every year. 8) .
My ruger will hit a paper plate regularly at 100 yds off sandbags. No grouping at that distance, just hits.
The Python has accounted for several turkeys so far, the ruger not yet.

I have both the Plow griped Hunter and the Bisley griped Hunters in .44 mag. They are great shooters.

My first centerfire handgun was a Ruger Super Blackhawk, so I've always loved their 44 Mags - now I have a Bisley gripped one, and really need to take it out for whitetail this year, so it feels needed...

Not yet. But come 2019, no lead bullets or shot will be allowed in California for hunting purposes.

Finally got around to uploading a pic of the new lead slinger...

As soon as funding allows, I'll pick up a 2x scope and a Galco Kodiak Hunting rig for it. Hopefully, I can find some time to get to the range this week.

Nice! I have a 2x Leupold on my SBH and it has served me well for 20 years or so. I also have a Simmons Prohunter 4x pistol scope that is holding up to my 7mm-08 Lone eagle. Cheap scope but if it takes the recoil form the LE a 44 mag SBH should be no problem.
