My interpretation of this paper makes me think that peripheral vision is strongly affected.

This is interesting.....My Mom is 91, and can't hardly see anymore. This adjustable-style was offered to her by a specialist for about 1,000 bucks.....My Sis and I both nixed her choice. There are so many companies that try to take advantage of old folks....

I, too, thought it strange to market shooting glasses that were not so rated. (Although, I doubt that mine are safety rated, either.... )

They are polycarbonate. Same as all my shooting glasses. They might not be rated because they didn't pony up the $$$ for testing.

The price sure isn't bad.

Too bad they aren't "safety glass rated", but perhaps someone will be able to refine the concept using that type material.

I might use them for reading and other stuff too.

IF...they work as described, it's a great idea at a good price...for SOME applications.
For shooting purposes you need to remember that there's no free lunch. It's easy to use corrective lenses that bring the sights (or Red Dot) into sharp focus. when you do...you lose the sharp image of the target. It's necessary to compromise...can't have both sharp. Soooo...the question you have to answer is how much compromise can you accept...???

I'd love to see them offered at a gun show where a guy could give'em a try.

They ARE. Polycarbonate.

I sent a prescription for handgun shooting glasses that made the front sight post crisp and clear in the right lens, and the left lens for intermediate distance. Cost me 28 bucks on EyeBuyDirect. Then I bought some shooting glasses that are designed to fit over prescription glasses for around 10 smackers. Works great.

That's basically been my solution to the aging eyes issue. I wear Decot Hy-Wyd shooting glasses which have easily removable individual lenses. About 15 yrs ago when my eyes had reached the point where handgun sights were just blurs...I called them. They made a new "strong side" lense that brought the sights back into focus. I leave the original "weak side" lense alone to be able to see the target. They told me "keep both eyes open...your brain will figure it out".
Works pretty good, still a compromise, but it keeps me shooting handguns and iron sighted rifles well enough to enjoy.

Side note , but reading this thread inspired me to call the place I've been getting glasses for over forty years as it's time for a new pair. Apparently , I can still get the glass photogrey high index glasses in an ul approved safety glass Never liked the plastic lenses.

For sure. I am not sure that these would be much of a help for most people. When I was fairly young, it seemed that my eyes adjusted a fair bit faster giving the illusion that it was all in focus. I don't mess around too much with iron sights now, except for the pistols. On a rifle, I just don't seem to be as good unless I have a decent aperture.

I went back to glass myself. Seems the coatings on the plastic lenses would get messed up and soon they were a complete mess.
