Annealing device

Post by Ray Newman »

Think I found an easier way to do the yearly case annealing.

Often noticed that the flame on the old propane torch does not evenly spread the heat on the case. Thought about a revolving dual flame annealing machine, but the prices (US$500.00 +) held me back. Then I started to think more about it and realized what I need was a ring burner. Did some searching and found that the Woodchuck Den, offers a ring burner for US$52.00 plus shipping.

Ordered one and it arrived last week. The ring with flame jets slides on the torch tip and fits over .50 and .45 calibre rifles cases with room to spare. Ignited the torch and observed the flames encircling a case in a uniform manner.

Should make annealing quicker and more effective. Now I just need to order some Tempilaq temperature indicating fluid.

The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....
