Fixer upper for a friend

Post by iceman »

A buddy brought me a fixer upper to look at for him today. It is a model 94 SRC serial 1,000,0xx (circa 1926). the action was locked up with rust. After oiling and playing around I got it to cycle. I pulled it apart and found a broken firing pin, the rest just needs cleaning. The exterior is really pretty good considering and the bore is bright with no pitting.
My next step is finding a firing pin, any suggestions? I hope to find one in Canada to make shipping easier. I'll let you guys know if I find anything else but so far so good pics to follow once I get it back together. Any leads for a firing pin would be appreciated.

Kirk could probably tell you where to find a firing pin in Canada. But haven't seen him post in a long while. Don't know if he's still around or not.

Do you mean sending a firing pin from the states is a no no? Disgusting!

Not that sending is a no no, just more expensive. Some firearm parts need a U.S. export paper work. No issue on our side to bring in.

I just got a reply from WGP they are asking $49 plus shipping etc. I have a few other feelers out so time ill tell. Brownel's is around $21 with exchange around $27 plus shipping so I'll wait for replies from my other sources.

Try Homestead Firearms. It is $27.50 there

This'd be my choice. Stopped there a few times while in Edmonton. Lots of good stuff, old guns and general stuff

Nice old Winchester :D
I'm surprised Western gun parts are so expensive, sometimes its easier for me to order gun parts from Canada to the UK.
Glad that old rifle is being given a new lease of life though.... 8)

I checked Homestead, by the time you add $24 shipping and 30% exchange cheaper to buy in Canada. Waiting on one more possibility to answer then decide from there.
