Just got thru booking my airplane tickets for my annual trip to the Philippines .
Going thru Seoul for the second time , well that is provided that idiot in North Korea doesn't restart the Korean Conflict !

My plan is to leave Dulles on Feb 18th and arrive Manila on the 19th late . Stay until March 19th and be back in the US of A on March 20th .

Well I got hotel reservations taken care of today !

We'll stay in Manila two nights when I arrive and one night before I get on the plane to return .

Once on Mindanao we stay with family .

You know I used to worry about all that stuff but anymore I take the outlook if it's my time to go it's my time to go and I just go on with the program as if nothing happened so to speak !

I have a Colonel friend in the Pentagon and he told me all "should be" good by the time I go thru Seoul . Now of course thats only if the idiot in North Korea doesn't go over the edge which is honestly up for debate

And if it isn't good I'll see if they can reroute me thru Narita or possibly Beijing .

I might be going around the same time. I'll be going to Subic Bay to go scuba diving and hope to stay 3-4 weeks.

IF a person wants to move there and retire it's not a bad idea . However if you want to live a lifestyle as you would here the cost can end up being closer to the cost here then you think . If you live in a lifestyle closer to what the people there live it is a distinct savings . In CDO where my wife lives we can get a decent house big enough to accommodate the two of us our daughter and her husband and our soon to be grandson for less then $75,000 . To get a house to accommodate the five of us with enough room to suit me the house will cost about $150,000 to $200,000 . Now to get that same 150-200G house here it would cost about the same . There is no such thing as a brick home there also houses there do not have furnace or a heat pump . And most don't have central air , I gotta have air con of one sort or another .

Now the cost of living over there is kinda like here in the states different areas cost different amounts . CDO is a lot less then Manila and where my brother in law lives in Gingoog is a bit less then CDO . But then there's the convience factor . CDO is like the middle of the spectrum of what I've seen but then again CDO and Gingoog are on Mindanao so then you to some extent have the muslim/rebel factor.

It's my plan to have a house there at some point but I would like to be in a situation where my wife daughter son in law and grandson can come here for half the year and we can all go back there for half the year .
