Anyone with cropland will 'need' one for burning the weeds and stubble now and then...

Yea, I can see ISIS with a truckload of those babies.....burning everything in their path.

Personally, I think it's too much for the homeowner. I bought one of those nasty propane jobs from Harbor Freight for something like $40. It hooks up to a standard 40 pound bar be cue grill tank and that baby does a nightmare job on weeds, trash, solicitors, and anything else you want to cook real fast.

I've used it to heat large pots of wheel weights and bingo...20 minutes later, a 100 pounds of wheelweights is liquid. -----6

For $700 you could probably find a military surplus one out on the market. They are out there there but due to the law of supply and demand they aren't as expensive as you might think. The only drawback of the military units is the working pressure for the air tank, it's just a wee bit higher than your normal shop compressor generates.

If it's anywhere around 4.5kpsi you can get it recharged at your local FD SCBA airpack bottle refill station.

Those scuba tanks are used by some contractors for nail guns and drywall spraying. Handy when you don't have electricity to run your regular air compressor. There is one heck of a difference in the volume of air between a tank at 100psi and one of the same size at 4.5kpsi.
