14,000 firearms! 50,000 artifacts. Actually quite overwhelming!

I know if I saw all those firearms at once I'd be overwhelmed for months!.. :o 8)
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

Been there!!! In Claremore Ok IIRC? Better plan on one long day to see it all. They have an old time smith shop barrel rifling exhibit. Interesting exhibit. Worth the trip

Yes, Claremore. My wifes family lived there. When we were there for a visit I spent days there. That smith shop was of the late 1700/early 1800's. The rifling bench was made of wood. From the way it was set up the twist rate looked be about 1 in 60" which for round ball ML's would be about right.
They even had a hand turned drill press with a big rock counter weight. There were some historical gun on display. Most were from local history. Really cool place.

Looks like a good way to spend a day. Ever been to Woolaroc Ranch and viewed their collection?

Woolaroc is near Bartlesville. You guys are talking about my stompin' ground. The Davis museum in Claremore was established to house the collection of J. M. Davis who had a big hotel in Claremore. His collection hung on the walls all over the hotel. I always gravitated to a little dark cabinet in a corner of the lobby that had some Volcanic pistols in it. When still a youngster I had the privilege of meeting and trading with the old gentleman. Unbelievable collection. He said some of the guns he traded from cowboys for their hotel bill.

Wooloroc was established by the Phillips family. You know, oil. There is collection of Patterson Colts that is unsurpassed. Be sure you don't miss it. Lots of other stuff at Wooloroc too. Your family will be entertained and educated.

Yep, I was there, when I was a kid, and I think it was called the Long's Museum and also had wax figures of famous people in it also, at that time. There is also the Will Roger's museum over there, or was, anyway.
