Practical new Ruger five-shooter

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Just stumbled on Jeff Quinn's review of the new Ruger LCRX in .38 Special. It's an LCR with adjustable sights, exposed hammer and three-inch barrel, but weighs less than a pound. I'm thinking this might make a very fine carry/trail gun.

^^^ +1! Yeah it actually looks good to me. Too bad they could make it in 32SWL or 32H+R. Some .38Sp load with a 125gr RFN at 850fps or so would be all you need for most woods walking.

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Wish they would add the same mods to the SP101... which is my preferred carry...

Nothing wrong with this little gun and wadcutters for rabbits and such. Eager to see some accuracy workups.

.

I'll pass - until a .22RF is offered (preferrably a .22WMR).

Thanks Mark. I'm going to have to give this little dude some serious attention after Christmas.
