I think he's been having money problems for a while now. IIRC he got some bad investment advice.

Burt and Sixgun definitely did not have the same gun acquisition strategy. Lots of random stuff that's not worth much. I'm guessing I can see why he got bad investment advice... or why he listened to it.

Money troubles not withstanding, considering he is an olde phart, maybe he's getting rid of the stuff while he's still alive and can enjoy some pocket money. You know, spend the kids inheritance before you die

I believe he's millions (10?) in debt. Which means even if everything sells for way too much, he's still going to be in debt.

Yeah, it does have the look of an estate sale.

Better sell it off now, try to do something with the money before it's seized by the bankruptcy court. If he thinks he can get away with it.

Got a neat little M-1 carbine in there I'd like to have.

Pretty much all the starting bids are out of my price range.

Looks like there are financial difficulties for him:

"Burt Reynolds Facing Foreclosure: Merrill Lynch Suing Star In $1.2 Million Mortgage"

"JUPITER, Fla. — A bank is seeking to foreclose on Burt Reynolds' Florida home so it can collect about $1.2 million for a mortgage.

Merrill Lynch Credit Corp. has filed a lawsuit in Martin County against Reynolds, BankAtlantic and Great Eastern Mortgage, claiming the actor has not made a mortgage payment since Sept. 1, 2010, on the 12,500-square-foot house."

"Burt Reynolds Auctioning Off Personal Items Amid Financial Struggles"

"Reynolds, who underwent back surgery in 2009 and a quintuple bypass the following year, has been under financial duress of late, with the Associated Press reporting in 2011 that his Florida home was facing foreclosure."

Amazing the financial distress guys' can get into who have earned enough money that it should last 10 lifetimes ---

poor real estate deals , taxes, agents and other money handlers stealing from you -- the list goes on

The Smokey and the bandit franchise alone should have ensured his a couple generations after , future ----- oh well

-- Loved Jerry Reed in those movies -- but secretly, Hooper was my fave from the "stuntman/truck drivin" era

From what I gather elsewhere he was heavily invested in a restaurant chain that went belly up.

Poking around the net though, it looks like he's been in financial trouble since the early 90's.

Six--You appear to have your priorities right. I think I'm still working on it, but when I looked at what Burt put up for sale, I hoped he was saving the good stuff. If I had the kind of money he's had in his life, I think I'd buy nicer toys that what he has listed and would hope to avoid the position he is in.

Super Chicken, (I like that name) :D

I have always been a firm believer that people who have more money than brains buy things that are "flashy"....you know....commeratives with gold leaf...whatever. That's fine if you have a use for them. They buy all they can and (while the money holds out) thirty years later their $20,000 investment turns into $15,000 because they don't know how to sell them on their own and the monetary increase is about .000001% (sometimes less) on a yearly basis while inflation is running .04%.....so......they lose.

Good antique guns bought at estate sales, auctions, whatever, (not the Internet) for 40% below their current value and then held on for 40 years may give an honest 400% increase, and.......if you use your head and know how to sell them....it's tax free.....Especially at the better collector shows where guys walk around with wads of Ben Franklins big enough to choke a whale.

Screw the Feds with getting my sweat so they can hand it out to the low life's who spend all their time screwing, drinking, drug ingestion, and buying Cadillac Escalades and making multiple babies who turn out just like them .......with their hands out. Two years their Cadillacs are worthless because they never change the oil, rotate the tires and the interior is full of bodily fluids that contain Ebola, ecoli, hepatitis, with the headrests full of musk oil and Afro Sheen.

I'm sick of supporting a group of people who have the mentality of a tree branch.

And "they" want to spread my wealth? Capitalism may be cruel but it works. Send the rest of em back to the mother land.-------6

No, I just write what others think. I'm not threatening anyone. I tell it like it is. There are groups of individuals out there.....and growing......who WANT THEIR FREE S---.

YES, Help those who need it...I'm am a strong proponent of helping those in need.......but when you live on the East Coast and you see individuals getting shopping carts full of expensive food free......or like my Acme Supermarket cashier SIL says.....almost free....they have this card......laughing.....smelling of liquor.......at us dumb whiteys.......then go load everything in a Cadillac........

No.....it's not once in a while....it's the norm.

I worked hard and learned everything I could in order to get some nice Winchesters and Colts. I have a library of books as big as a Cadillac. Took me over 40 years to accomplish my goals and ........I HAVE NO USE FOR PARASITES.

Filtered or not......it how I believe this nation was built.....by hard work and thinking.........not screwing.......this is not a third world nation.......yet----6.

Six,

Make no mistake bud, I agree 100 percent. Its bad up here too and don't give you a warm feeling when you're driving 50 miles to work in a blizzard at midnight.
