That poor Marlin. Somebody should have rescued it from bubba.
Considering the amount of damage done by the welding, the chunk out of the stock and overall condition, I might could be persuaded to give him $7.00 for it. But $700.00 .... no way in hades.

Now I've seen it all! Guess that's a real time saver if you chop the barrel and don't want to have another dovetail cut!

You think he chopped the barrel Vall? I think it mighta just ended up in the hands of an idiot. Maybe it is cut & he had so much trouble cutting a dovetail for the sight he fired up the welder. Actually in the third pic it looks like the stud is in there. I dunno what to think.

I'm actually surprised that someone would try to sell that wreck. I told the seller that it was $ 75. parts gun at best.

I'm positive it's been cut. The measurement from end of muzzle to center of the sight dovetail is always almost exactly 1". This gun's front sight dovetail is too close to the crown. Additionall, the mag tube dovetails never line up with front sight dovetails, as that would really weaken the barrel at that point. Mag tube dovetails are usually about 3/4" to center.
This gun has way more problems than just misuse of a welder!
