Picked up a new lever

I was planning on buying one of the new made Winchester 73s in 45 colt but I came across this Uberti
76 Crossfire carbine in 45/60 and had to have it.Up here in Canada the Uberti 76 carbines are a rare bird,the Uberti 76 sporting rifles are common but the carbines are a custom order piece.I plan on using it for Deer this season.

You will like it.

I have the Chaparral NWMP carbine in .45-75. It is lots of fun, and really gets people's attention, too. That Uberti is a little bit prettier with the case colored receiver and nicer wood.

Can US companies ship brass to Canada? I have a couple of sources for Jamison brass in .45-60 but I don't know about the shipping laws.

Some companies can/will ship to Canada alot won t.I might gear up to make my own, I have an old orignal bullet mould for 45/60 so I m going to see if I can get some useable bullets from it and I might even have a new mould made up copying the bullets for easier casting.

Brass is simple isn't it? Just shorten 45-70's?

While that's true in the US, it's not necessarily true in other countries, some of which require the headstamp match the marked chambering.

IDY about Canada, but IIRC some African (safari) countries do (or once did).

So far as the African countries go, I think that was mostly internet legend - along with several other ammo myths that were and are popular. In any event Namibia for certain does not. South Africa is another that doesn't.

Pitchy picked up the rifle version in 45-60, if I remember right there was some problem with shortening 45-70 brass, I think the rim was to thick for his rifle. I'll have to try to remember to ask him if I talk to him this weekend.

Very pretty. I hope that it shoots as good as it looks, and that it loves to hunt. Some of my guns hunt better than others, and that might just be the design, but one of my rifles seems to work better in the field than the others.
