Back during the Arab oil embargo ( long time ago ) the speed limit in the whole country was 55 MPH.
I was driving to Collville, Wa.
Going through Wyoming, no one on the road; that big Dodge Hemi liked to lop along at 86 MPH; it just ran good there.
Waaaaayyyy in back of me was a car, he was so far back I forgot about him.
Next time I saw him he was right behind me, and it was a Wyoming state cop.
He pulled in the next lane went around me and waved as he went by.
I was doing 86 MPH.
He did not seem to care.
I think it is so far between Point A and Point B, that as long as you are not being stupid and maintaining control of your vehicle; they don't care.
At least he did not on that day.

There are LEOs with common sense everywhere. They just get overshadowed by the few who don't have it.

Many years ago was riding my 650 Yamaha from Albany, Ga to St Louis and stopped for fuel north of Atlanta. An off duty local officer was gassing up his Honda 750 at the next pump. We started talking and decided to ride together to his exit 30 miles north. I had to push my poor little 650 pretty hard to keep up, he leveled off at 85, and when he pulled off I had to ask what he thought was the max safe speed to keep from getting stopped. He said the HP night guys were pretty cool and if you weren't acting stupid or drunk you could run 80. With a Windjammer fairing my bike was comfortable at 80, but any faster just took too much throttle and I was worried about running out of gas on some of the newer stretches of I-75 that didn't have many gas stations so that's what I stuck with. Two different HP officers waved at me as they passed between there and Chattanooga. Yep, they were cool.

Wyoming is a dandy place, almost as nice as Alberta. Whoops did I say that out loud!
