Off to the diggings with a 1873(?).

Can't discern the model of this carbine but it is a levergun...

Our Oklahoma Hunting regs had a cool levergun photo on the cover this year. I'd sure like to know the story behind this fellow. Check out the collar buttoned all the way up, I don't see that any more.

Me too!

I got a photo of my gramps in deer camp, Few leverguns, few 81s looks like a Win SL too. If I can find it at my mom's I'll try and post it. It's not as old as some of these but my guess is late 30s early 40s

I believe the first pic is an early Marlin, an 1881 or early smaller frame. Look at the forend cap, it tapers like early Marlins, and the lower part of the receiver looks early Marlin-like.

I have to agree with Malamute on the first pic. The forward part of the lever is definitely Marlin shaped.

After running the second pic through my photo program I'm fairly certain the rifle is a Winchester 1894 carbine.
