pitch fork butt plate gone off my Win 86

Post by randy merta »

and my shoulder loves the change. I had a local stock worker saw the pitch fork off and install the Pachmayer pad on my 86. It sure makes shooting those RanchDog cast boolits alot more fun.

I commend your decision. I have never been afraid to make a gun into the tool I need it to be in spite of value, looks, etc. If I don't like shooting it it is worthless to me. Congratulations on taking the steps to make your gun a good shooter for you!

I absolutely love the look of a crescent butt on a rifle. But, to be honest, I restocked and restyled a Marlin 336 .30-30 and added a sweet-looking crescent butt, and even that rifle will ding your shoulder pretty darned painfully if you're not careful with how you hold it. On a .45-70, I wouldn't even think about it -- that pretty crescent would have to go!

Sorry in my failure to mention the filler is deer antler. I plan to have my initials or a animal lazered onto it sometime. I thought that in the next year or two I will be going to Alaska or Africa and will have my first big game animal carved into the antler.
Yes it is a takedown model.
Hobie sorry about the collector part but I have a bunch of guns and some will never leave the farm and others........ but the 86 will be here until I push up daisys. It is now a more shooter friendly and I love shooting her.
Now onto the B92 in 44 mag...

some are tools and some are history. you didn't hurt the value or the history.
there is no such thing as a miss if you still have ammo

Randy,

Shooting a gun that hurts like hell every time you pull the trigger is no fun.
I can shoot most any rifle with a shotgun type but plate, but the crescent but stocks do smart some.

What is that vine with the blue flower on it?

Joe upon checking with my wife she advised the flower is a morning glory. Those morning glorys took off up our pole even during this drought.

Crybaby.

I love cressent buttplates. If you aren't smart enough to keep your shoulder inside, then by all means, "ruin" a good looking rifle. 8)

I have a couple whinner friends that don't like Dad's 94 because of the buttplate. Sheesh
