New toy, XD-S

Post by Pitchy »

Bought one of the pretty new on the market XD s 45`s the other day.
Great gun and shoots great, very little felt recoil and accurate.
Just fired five rounds off hand at the eight in gong at 50 yards and hit it every time.
Real happy with it. :)

Looks good pitchy, looks like a good coat pocket gun.

I sold off my S&W Shield the day after I shot XD-S. It's extremely accurate and controllable, for such a small package....really surprised me. My Shield was no better than "barn door" accurate, at 25yds.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

We are hearing much good about the XD-S, mostly .45s so far. We've only had a couple of the 9mms to sell.

Cool ! I worked part time at a gun shop a for extra Christmas money a few years ago - the XD and all the variants were the most "coon-fingered" in the store -- everybody loved how they felt in the hand -- kinda like a polymer CZ-75 almost --- and the fact that they had a safety mechanism is appreciated by many over the Glock

I wanted one real bad but common sense won out and I talked myself out of buying one because I sure didn't need it. But then a partial trade came up and the next thing you know I own one.

I didn't shoot it so well the first time, everything was way left. Some testing showed it wasn't the gun, just me and the trigger.

Pulled her apart and polished everything and now she shoots real nice.

Yeah those are REAL nice carry pieces. I've never had an XD that didn't go bang every single time I pulled the trigger (such that it is). :D
Cheers,

I have had one for about a week myself and love it. This is the first true pocket .45 I have had, overall smaller than the Glock 36 I used to own, easy to shoot and startlingly accurate. Six .45s on tap and as easy to tote as a J-frame S&W.

PillHer has an XD, not the -S version, but she loves it. Hers is well made and reliable.

HI PITCHY ... i had one for 3 months, very accurate, easy to conceal, runs great (shot over 350+ rnds through it with no issues, say one), i think you made a good choice for a CCW--unfortunately for me the XDs beat the heck out of my thumb...i tried different techniques in holding the auto, but had the same results. for me, and i think it's just me, the grip on the XD platform (and i've shot several) really pounds my thumb. so I sold the gun to a very happy friend, who shoots it very well, and thanks me every time he sees me. i've gone back to Glock, they simply work and fit my hand... :)

.

My Son bought hisself an XD in .40S&W this past Spring & absolutely loves it.

His came with a few interchangeable backstraps (diff contours), two mags & a Kydex (?) holster in a hardcase.

I've forgotten what he told me he paid for it, but since he's happy with it, IMHO the cost's irrevelant.

Yepper, that would be an XD-M

I`ve yet to see an XD malfunction. :) I have a older model XD in 45 also that shoots great.
I still like a 1911 better but this new XD-S is real light and small for carry. 8)
