1885 Winchester HiWall in .348 Win by Uberti

Post by Hanz »

For all the .348 Winchester fans that would like to try something other than the Model 71.

http://www.buffaloarms.com/browse.cfm/4,4656.htm

$791.49 at Buffalo Arms.

I was "windows shopping" and stumbled across it. Gave me an excuse to head over here :)

I want one. Pistol Grip with DST would be nice.

I can't see them selling very many of these. Too bad. I'm sure they don't qualify for BPCR shoots, and anyway I wonder what BP would do in a cartridge necked down that much?

and a 24/26" barrel! 30" is a lot of steel.

That's the sort of rifle I think I'd love -- but then I look at that crescent butt, think about how stout the recoil would be with a .348, how VERY careful I'd have to be when shouldering it to avoid a painful jab, and well...

Well, I might not turn it down, but I'm sure I'd prefer a shotgun butt, myself.

Hanz,

I had a Ruger No. 1 single shot re-barreled to .348 WCF and topped with a Leupold 1.5-5X scope. Shoots really well with just about any load you care to feed it.

OK...

26" DST Pistol Grip Shotgun Butt (still with the cleaning rod trap) D&T for Unertl/Litshert-type bases.

There.

I always was curious why Hawk sold .348 spitzers. Here's an excuse to use them...

Heck, may as well rechamber to AI and get that 270 gr Hawk Spitzer running about 2500 fps. Yikes :D :D
