Not Single Action Army pistols, but inspired by the SAA and in the same basic mold. .45 Colt Ruger Blackhawks in 7 1/2" and 4 5/8" lengths:

Me either Joe. Don't think that mine is worth a Turnbull Resto...

It actually functions ok, including cylinder lockup and indexing, forcing cone/cylinder gap is a little more than I am comfortable with (that and the two bulges in the barrel). Barrel isn't really at an angle to the frame, looks that way because of poor cell phone pic.

Model 52 B,

Nice early NM BHs, I had a couple like that way back in the 70s. ( 1970s .... :) )
What brand and model # are those holsters?

damienph,
That is my kind of old pistol. I'd shoot that one just for the heck of it.

They are nothing fancy - Triple K, model 114 "Cheyenne". I grew up on a ranch where a pistol, carbine or rifle was mostly a tool and I still value practicality at a decent price point.

They are unlined, but the quality is good and they are nicely blocked so retention is good even without the hammer loop. The pistols also don't rattle around in the holsters, so even unlined, they tend to be kind to the finish. Another thing I like about the holster is that you can either thread it on a regular belt or quickly unsnap it put it on a slotted buscadero style belt.

IIRC, Ruger sells them on their shop ruger.com page, but they are available at Midway, etc. I've noted they also match the color of Cabela's leather belts so I suspect they are made by the same folks.

damienph , What is with that top strap??? It looks like it is way too thin. The front sight is also much smaller than factory. Someone must have gotten a new grinder for Christmas.

:? :? :?
I suspect that it is not made in USA. The top strap is on the thin side and has been re-welded at one time; maybe related to one (or both) of the barrel bulges. The barrel has been shortened and either a new front sight attached or remnants of the old one re-attached. The front sight is in the lettering that is rollmarked on top of the barrel, obliterating some of it. There is evidence that the revolver was nickel plated at one time. The left side has a small crack developing at the front bottom edge of the cylinder window. There is no doubt that this thing has been fired a lot.
Image
Image
The left side of the grips has three notches carved in them, not sure if they signify kills of some sort or the number of times the shooter escaped serious injury after blowing the top strap or lodging a couple of bullets in the barrel.

Griff,
The two in your second pic look sort of anemic and flat, didn't they get fed enough?

Sixgun,
I can help rectify that unfired situation.

casastahle,
Are those a pair of 44s or 45s? Inquisitive minds want to know .... :?:

Model 52 B,
Thanks for the ID.

Pitchy,
How does that SA 44 shoot? I've only shot one SA in 44 Spcl and it wasn't a Colt.

Well Joe to be truthful i haven`t shot it that much, i bought it new about 20 years ago and kept it in the safe as new.
Just recently got it out a few times and been carrying it, the times i have shot it it was pretty accurate and fun to shoot.
Someday i`m going to work up a good mild load for it and load up a bunch and shoot it more.
Been to busy building boats.

I use a couple SA Rugers. I've had several colts in the past, I sure regret trading them off. My favorite was a 4 3/4" nickel 44 spl.

I did a nice flat top 45 Blackhawk also, and had a Colt Flat Top Target styled front sight made for it. I never quite warmed up to the large Ruger front sights on their adjustable sighted guns.

A slightly modified Vaquero 45,

Interarms imported 1911 frames in the 60s and 70s... and were sold as frames or complete guns... I had a bunch of surplus parts and assembled this into a complete gun in 1974, and sold it in 1995 to help pay for a slight downturn in the family economy... bought it back 2 years ago from another shooter at our club... the 3rd owner since me. He had some crummy plastic grips, which promptly landed in the trash... these panels were the factory panels from my 1982 Combat Commander next to it...

While the Interarms (I just call my "parts gun"), had been rebuilt, it'd been fired a lot... and it didn't take long (just a few hundred rounds), for it to develop a severe issue... grip safety wasn't required for it fire. My son took it upon himself to again rebuild it, but with a couple new parts... We're planning on a two-tone Ceracote™ refinish job. Here, it's nearly ready to go to the refinisher:
Image
Image
New parts include mainspring housing, grip safety, trigger, interrupter, several pins, all new springs, hammer, mag release, slide stop and thumb safety, although those last two are going to get replaced with more workable parts. The son & I have similar sized hands, and we've decided that the new Wilson extended slide stop is too short, and their thumb safety is too wide! These grips are the factory panels from my Taylor's Tactical 1911 and will be replaced also... Haven't decided if it'll get the Hogue double diamond wood grips currently on the Taylor's, or???

So far it's an definite improvement:
J Miller wrote:Griff,

Joe
Joe... they've been fed A LOT! If they hadn't... they wouldn't be quite so UGLY! They're still single actions! Just use shorter ammo!!!

and Sixgun, I gotta agree with Joe... since it already has "ring around the cylinder"... firing it ain't gonna hurt it none!

Please every one,- understand that Turnbull is nice, I have even dreamed of having mine done but I have a brand new 3rd Gen in the box that will suffice also in 38 wcf.

Cass, that reminds Me of the Gun I saw last weekend at a Gun Show. Colt SAA marked "Bisley Model 38 wcf" on the barrel with regular grips. The Guy said it was all orignal. I said but it is a Bisley with the wrong grips, how can it be original. He said Somebody probably put them on it to which I replied "then it caint be original", Didn't matter, He was sticking to the orginal story. Could I be wrong ? I didn't argue, just waked away scratching My head.

Damien, that gun of yours is a Mexican knock-off of a Colt SAA.. It combines colt features with some aspects borrowed from the Remington single actions..

First time I saw one was in '65, and belonged to a good friend, who brought it back from Mexico.. It was in pretty tough shape, and was missing a few parts, which we replaced with homemade pieces.. It was chambered for .44 WCF, and was horribly inaccurate..

Sixgun, that Colt may be unfired, but it sure ain't unturned.. Has been played with by someone who didn't understand the proper manipulation of a single action.. Go ahead and shoot it, like it was meant to be...

I don’t think we have to worry about Mr. Turnbull making a like statement
about the one pictured above. His restoration team even incorporated an old
mercury dime as a front sight. 8)

1st Generation Colt SAA Artillery, 1882. This one is restored and used. I just got back from a couple days in the northern bush and it went with me. I have swapped out the original cylinder for a modern one chambered in 45 Schofield. Cartridges are loaded to 45 Colt ballistics.
