That is why I'm discrete about my guns.
Wife mentioned at a party a friends lever
he kept in his van years ago. It was stolen
shortly thereafter, I gave him a Winny 94
right afterwards, because I felt she was the
reason for the theft.

I try to not advertise or talk about guns to
my friends and neighbors. My friends have
to come inside before they start showing
their stuff and I am carefull when loading
the car to go to the range.

I make it pretty simple. You Loot--We Shoot :D Lots of people know I have guns and the only way they are going to get them is to kill me. Even if they get them, they will play hell gettin' rid of them as I know a lot of people in this great nation who deal in these guns. Meticulous (how do you spell that word?) records are kept and copies will spread if the need arises.

Guns are kept in a quality vault, with the exception of a 218 Bee, and 5 handguns and a shotgun. You guess where they are. I am never without something that propels 160 grains of lead at 850 fps, even when I am cutting grass. Its usually something that pushes 230 grains. I have 15 dogs. I have in-laws on either side of me who know more about my business than I do. One is a cop. Friends are of the best of quality. They can be counted on one hand, minus the thumb and two fingers. Nobody but these two friends spend any time at the house. I spend an extra $40 a month in electricity to light up the whole compound. You ought to see the precautions I take when I'm not home.

People who steal from you most always know you. People who know me know I will think nothing of killing (I don't shoot to wound :D ) the thief if he or them invade my castle. I have the utmost in confidence in my ability to shoot straight and without hesitation.

Believe it or not, all of these precautions are not because of my guns. Even if the thief gets them and sells them at fair market value, whats he going to be able to buy? a car? Lot easier to go to the mall and plug into an Escalade. I do this for my family and of course, myself. Seems bad guys today will think nothin' of invading your home and killing a few people for a TV set or $200 in cash. I will not be a government statistic---the thief will be pushing up daisies :D --------------Sixgun

ps. I have 10 of these #6 bear traps set in stragetic locations. The dogs are too light to set them off. :D Nooooo that part is bs.

Ray,
I have found your info to be absolutely spot on. We've had two home break ins/gun thefts. The first was in Arizona growing up, when my brother was showing my Dad's 22 mag. only version of the Ruger Single Six to his "buddy". Came home from school a week or two later and found the door kicked in, the pistol taken, and to top it all off, someone had pooped in front of the door upon leaving to complete their message. There are some sick puppies out there.

Later when living with my Uncle in Central California, the same brother showed his friends a couple of his guns. They came back when no one was home and took them all but missed one...many old family guns were lost. The one they missed was my Uncles Flat Top which he bought when he was 19. Later theives broke in again, but the Rottweilers got to them and chewed them to pieces before the police drug them out of the front yard. In 2005 my Uncle passed away and his home was broken into again(good old Central California :? ), but my other Uncle had gotten his guns out just before. So, the Old Flat Top has missed 3 burglaries, and I thankfully inherited it and consider it one of my prize possessions. My Uncle is in the thumbnail below and he is the one responsible for turning me into a Lever/Single Action/Equine/Old West/Civil War nut.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

I dont mentioned anything about what I have around strangers. Yes I have firearms but only immed. family and a couple close friends know about them. Have 2 large dogs with no sense of humor behind a 6ft chain link fence. Another nice thing is I live over the top of an old gold mine and some of the air shafts are over 1000 ft down. For a fact there are bodies that FELL down them during the gold rush days and latter. Did have one thing say he could get past my dogs and I asked if his parents dint mind loosing a tax deduction down an air vent. He said I threatened him, told him no it was a way things used to be done with his kind. Have never seen him around town since, heard tell he broke into the BBL of a 12 GA with an old timer behind it.

I hope for the sake of this nation there will always be lots of folks like you; too many panty-waist city folks are just so totally clueless about the harsh realities of life. If their 'civilized' infrastructure ever breaks down they won't know what to do.

We don't really NEED to have the crime, the violence, the inflation, the taxes, the regulation, and all the other stuff we've grown to accept; self-reliant people know that, but the rest just vote in socialists and are happy as long as their favorite tv sit-com is on and there's beer in the fridge.

"first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.

Another good idea is to shred not only everything with your name and personal information on it, but also anything related to firearms or weapons. That way, anyone who may be going through your trash looking for clues as to anything worth stealing won't know you have guns...
