38/357 ammo. sabot'ed down to .22 cal.

Post by cshold »

Anyone know if they make 38/357 ammo. sabot'ed down to .22 cal. for us PA. guys who want to use our revolvers for small game?

We have this jacked up hunting law: :(

Small Game Regulations
Arms & Ammunition:
1) Manually operated and autoloading shotguns with a capacity of no more than 3 shells in the chamber and magazine combined.
2) Manually operated rifles and handguns less than 23 caliber.
3) Muzzleloading rifles and handguns 40 caliber or less and shotguns.
4) long, recurve and compound bows and arrows.
Singleprojectile ammunition or fine shot pellets no larger than No.4 lead, bismuth-tin, or tungsten-iron, or No. 2 steel.
Note: Rifle and handgun caliber restrictions do not apply when hunting woodchucks. While hunting small game during the bear or muzzleloader deer seasons, the only rifle or handgun that can be used is a 22 caliber or less rimfire.

Not that I have heard of but I am no expert. Have you looked at a Ruger single six? They can be had with both .22lr and .22mag cylinders. That would cover what you are looking for. + they are just fun guns.

Don't know of any commercial manufacturers. Might have to load your own.

I wonder how a .223 Boattail would work out of a SP101... Hmmm....

Not .38 but close...

Good question. Likely up for debate in court.

Somebody want to challange it by shooting a .22 sabot out of a .30-06 and seeing what the DNR will do?

Not by me, that's for sure. I'd bet Nath is absolutely right.

Not gonna even consider taking a chance on that one.

You have to live in Britt and shoot to become very wary of how laws are interpretated. My favourite one is that a bore greater than .240 is to be used on our larger deer species so that means .243 win is actually illegal! It,s BORE is actually .238/9!
Also a M/L can meet all the legal requirements for deer shooting and vermin shooting but they won,t let you even so. No law preventing a M/L use on critters but they will not allow it- whats all that about then???????

Hadn't even given that a thought.
I guess sabots are out of the question.
As well as my 25-35Win. to .25acp adapters.

But hey it’s legal to blow squirrel out of the top of a tree with a
22-250, 220 swift., 222, 222mag., 223, 22 Savage high power.

God help yea if have an old Winnie in 25-20 or 32-20 that you would
want to take to the fields for rabbit. (Its ground hog only for those)

Here is the links to my rant. :x
