visited gunshop.....shouldn't have !

Post by DarryH »

I actually try to avoid going to certain gun shops.
Stopped in today....and I am STILL trying to talk myself out of a couple purchases!!!

2 Winchester Model 88's. One .308 and one .243. Pressed checkering/leaves, ets.
Both had one-piece scope bases on them. These showed use, but not abuse.

At least 6 Model 99 Savages. One carbine. Most were in 30-30 caliber.
I think all had brass cartrdge counters. Most has varnish partial re-finish,
and/or stock cracks.

While not leverguns....Remington Model 8, Remington Model 14, two more Remington
pumps in 38/40 and ???.
4 Remington Model 121 pumps in .2 rimfire, plus assorted pumps in other cailbers.

New gun racks had lots of Henry's in almost every style, Browning pump rimfires,
plus several high grade Winchester Model 95 limited editions. These are
several CZ bolt action rimfires and a few Browning T-Bolt rimfires that I am really
considering.

New I shouldn't have stopped!!!!
Please don't ask for prices. I looked at too many,
so I guarantee I would tell you wrong.

Sounds like you must have just been dreaming...!

If not, post the address, and a bunch of us from the forum will go up there and buy them all but one, so you won't have to choose which one to get... 8)

The Remington 14 and 1/2 in 38-40, 44-40 are bringing big money these days. It would pay for you to educate yourself and go down there and make some money.---Sixgun

You should buy the Model 8. I don't shoot it much, but it's real accurate and fun to shoot. Next time at a big buck.

I want a Model 8, but want one in .30Remington.
My model 14 is that chambering also, and I have a good supply of brass and ammo.

The 88 in .308 would be a temptress....It would go nicely with mine in .284....

I bought my Model 14 in a private sale. An older gent had not used it in many years, and had offered me
a good price. I love the way the gun handles.
The .30 Remington has virtually the same ballistics as the 30-30, so in a sense, it is a 30-30 rimless.
When I get a chance to buy new/old stock ammo, I try to pick it up.
I prefer to buy multiple boxes of the same load, that way I don't spend much time having to re-zero my gun all the time.
I have so many different calibers of guns now, that I am trying not to add more if I can help it.
Also, some of these obsolete calibers are getting very expensive to shoot.
I don't care to own guns I can't or do not shoot.

I bought this mint Model 8 from a local store. I've never seen the need for an auto, but his one tickled me. I ordered some ammo from Buff Arms and with a little sight adjustment, she shot great. I shot about a box, always assuming it would jam and never did. I guess I have enough reloading to do for othe rguns , so I won't for this one. after all I only need one bullet.
