Twenty Marlin rejects?

Post by pneuby »

Just visited my local Cabela's here last night. Long rack of used Marlins all tagged as USED....

11- Identical 45/70's w/big loop at $579
8- 336's, standard
10- ' 84 in .45Colt

All of them looked immaculate, and all bore the REM mark. Returns? Re-furbs? Combo of those?

Sad.....

They weren't black, plastic, or chambered for a military round. So all those who got them for Christmas took them back ........ maybe.

Now Joe, that is really optomistic....we all know Marlin Firearms Co. is now officially dead. That happened when The JM proofmarks left the barrels!

And if I misspelled anything, it's late for me and I'm tired and besides, as I recall, we don't have to pass the spelling tests here anyway!!

So we're sayin' that the .45-70 Gov't isn't a military round...

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

I got a good deal on a .500 S&W Handi-rifle once, with a scratched up scope mount (just like the scope might have hit a forehead and then slid some), and a broken front sight (just like might happen if someone in the midst of a case of 'scope-eye' were to drop the gun muzzle-first). Crown was ok, action was tight, trigger good, so I took it home and put a set of Williams WGRS 'FireSights' on it.

Sometimes it's good there's 'sissies' around... :D

Once they have been sold and returned, they are used. I bet Remarlington is doing a BUNCH of distributor return refurbs these days after the JUNK they shoveled out the door before admitting they didn't know how to spell lever....

That's the way I got my Buffalo Classic; like new, traded in with a box of 405gr JSP with 19 rounds in box.

That's how I got my Ruger Airhawk as well. Found it in Cabela's Bargain Cave and it was less than half price even with tax. I asked what was wrong with it and they said most come back because people buy them for kids and don't realize how much force is required to break the barrel over.

My friend runs a gun library for Cabela's and the last batch of Marlin's they got were factory returns that had been re furbed. Cabela's had a deal to buy all the rebuilt returns to the factory at one time. TThe also bought a whole batch of stuff that was piled in the back room when marlin moved.
