lead bullet ban in California and microstamping

Post by Oz n bolivia »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recieved this from Gene Kelly American Gumsmithing Institute. I wonder how many lead bullets they found in the stools of California Condors? They eat all kinds of dead things and most of them were not shot.

From: "Gene Kelly" <agiezine>

To ALL: This is Serious. I don't normally send out politically related stuff but this is important because what starts in California can spread across the country. This is effectively a ammo ban and the Micro stamping is a Handgun ban, all based on Junk Science and lies. If you have firends in California please make them aware of what is happening and ask them to take action. This has PASSED the assembly and the senate and is sitting ont the Governor's Desk. We need to get him to VETO them.I have attached a copy of the letter I emailed, FAXed and will be mailing at the end of this email.
Please redistribute this action alert to others as soon as possible!!!! The following bills are strongly opposed by sportsmen and other owners of firearms. Your contacts with the GOVERNOR in opposition are urgently needed now!!!
AB 821 (Nava) Ridley-Tree Condor Preservation Act - Would prohibit the use of lead ammunition for the hunting of big game and coyotes in the range of the California Condor. This would affect much of theCentralCoast andSouthern California hunting areas. Supporters claim it is hunter's ammunition that is responsible for lead poisoning in condors. If AB 821 becomes law, they have let it be known that they will be seeking a lead ammunition ban statewide. Anti-hunting groups know that the alternative to lead, (i.e.-copper bullets), is not as effective, will likely result in more crippling of animals, and is also toxic to condors. AB 821 is seen by them as laying the groundwork for a total ban on hunting next as it will allow them to claim that hunting should be stopped because no satisfactory ammunition is available that will not poison condors.!!!!

AB 1471 (Feuer) Microstamping - Would expand the definition of "unsafe handgun" to include semiautomatic pistols that are not designed and equipped with a microscopic array of characters that identify the make, model, and serial number of the pistol, and which are transferred in at least two places by imprinting onto each cartridge case when the firearm is discharged. This will enable identification of the registered owner. Even though over 90% of handguns used in crime are stolen, the registered owner from whom the firearm was stolen would become the subject of a criminal investigation and possibly prosecution! If signed into law, AB 1471`s requirements could soon be expanded to cover all firearms of any kind! And...if a criminal gets a hold of some of your spent cases (as from a shooting range) he can leave them at a crime scene and the police will come looking for you!! To make matters even worse, scientific studies have shown that any criminal can easily remove or defeat the microstamping technology with a minimum of IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED!!!! It is important that every sportsman and other owners of firearms immediately contact the Governor to oppose the above described two bills!!! Mail: The HonorableArnold Schwarzenegger FAX: (916) 445-4633 Governor, State ofCalifornia State Capitol e-mail: Office of the Governor :: Interact Sacramento, Ca. 95814

How will this work with cases that have been reloaded four or five times?

Next will come the requirement that reloading presses add a microstamp. Then a Lee Press will cost $1,179.95.

If you pick up range brass to reload it could wind up with at least 2 different stamps. So if we switch back to revolvers we don't have to worry about it, only semiautos. Great, the gun of choice for bad guys will be revolvers.

These people are comming from every direction. OSHA is considering a classification on loaded ammo, primers and powder that would jack way up the shipping rates. Thanks for the warning.

The problem is that liberals (as they are calling themselves now), socialists, and communists and gullible sheeple, are the enemy of freedom and gun owners EVERYWHERE.

The problem is our governments are infested with all of these groups.

How and why WE THE PEOPLE have voted these people into office is beyond me.

What should we do about it?
Well, Hobie and others please forgive me but I have to say this:

We should bend over, stick our heads between our legs and kiss our freedom loving BUTTS goodbye. Because short of an act of GOD there is no way we can vote these enemys of freedom out of office. There are just too many sheeple that swallow their lies and propaganda like a baby eats pablum that keep voting them in.

Just a querstion has anyone from California e-mailed the Governor?

Mail: The Honorable Arnold Schwarzenegger
FAX: (916) 445-4633

Governor, State of California

State Capitol
Sacramento, Ca.
e-mail: http://gov.ca.gov/interact

Ask him if anyone of his wildlife Biologist checked the condor poop (SORRY droppings) for lead bullets, buckshot or lead solids?

Condors are vultures and eat a lot of dead things that were not shot. The chances of eating something that was shot is a lot less than a road kill or left overs from a predator. Lead can be ingested via water, dead fish, grass eaten that gros close to a lead minning or processing plant. Ask how solid is the evadance for lead from bullets the source of death for the Calif. Condor?

Ask if microstamping will stop crime? A stolen firearm can still be used to kill, rob, or threaten victims. It will help trace the bullet to the gun, but what traces the gun to the shooter or wielder? Microstamping is a gimmick to increase the cost of production and nor real benfit to the police or public.

Nah. Revolvers don't look cool enough when shot sideways.

Of course, using a revolver might teach them to AIM, so fewer innocents will get caught in the crossfire - and more 'bangers would die... so I can't say it would be a BAD thing...
