I wonder how long before metal on metal makes the imprint unreadable? I couldn't read the whole article.

FYI from the California Chronicle online:
The bill, AB 1471, has the backing of the Los Angeles Police Department, the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), as well as scores of other police departments and organizations throughout the state.
Microstamping, which is used to identify guns used in crimes, would be required on all new models of semiautomatic handguns sold in California after 2010.

G;
When hunting in Texas next month, look around a bit. The Gulf can not compare to the Pacific, but it is a gun-friendly state - at least so far.

He's probably just horse trading; "I'll give you this if you give me that", politicians do it all the time.

Actually, European politicians have no lock on stupidity. Unfortunately, quite a number of our own U.S.A. born politicians can (and do) demonstrate that for our country and for all the world.

He's probably like so many other actors, the only thing they know about guns is from their movies and tv shows. and they start to believe it.

What's next? Matches and lighters perhaps? I mean, a match in the wrong hands could have devastating consequences, one errant strike and another wild fire could consume property and kill innocent people. Ban them for the greater good and safety of us all!!

An knives, and axes, and chisels, and baseball bats, and crowbars, and bottles... heck why not lock us all in our cribs with soft toys and pacifiers?
As long as we could still pay taxes, they would certainly like to see that.

And Californians are so much safer today as a result.

I feel that the law will go largely ignored and people will personally import all the ammo they need from other places.

It will only hurt California gun stores.

Having the public at large hear that such notions have "official" backing hurts us all in the long run. Some people believe anything they're told.

Exactly! That was my point in posting those quotes. Thanks.

Uh, Scott. 1471 relates to semi automatic pistols, not serialized ammunition.

I think he's referring to the lead ban for hunting; where the the

Shame - I really enjoyed his movies (most of them), and his speech at the GOP convention. Too bad he didn't end up listening to his own advice. He turned into a politician - and just another dork... :(

I lifted weights when I started playing football and wrestling (age 13), and continued into my 20's. Franco Columbu was my idol, and I read books written by both he and Ahhnold.
I always thought he had more sense than this, given how well he's handled his career, and several important situations as governor.
What a disappointment  .
