Rossi '92 Barrel

Post by Antietamgw »

I have an Interarms era '92 Trapper that's going to become a takedown. Anyone know whether these were metric or fractional pitch barrel threads? I hate to tear it down until I'm ready to start and finish the job - it just gets too much use. I'll be adding another barrel in .256 WM at the same time. It would be handy to know in advance as I've not cut metric pitch threads before with my old SB lathe. Thanks in advance!

Antietamgw,

I believe the barrel threads are METRIC.

The man to ask is Steve Young:

He knows the Rossi 92 very well.

I don't really know if they are metric or standard but IIRC the pitch is 1 in 27, an odd pitch. I do know that Rossi has used two different dia. for the barrel stubs. If you will email me I'll try to put a thread gage and mic on one to make sure.
