OT - Mossberg failed me

Post by AJMD429 »

This happened the other day (on the path to our range house/picnic area no less  )

Image

Since it was locked up so bad, and we've sold the bulldozer, I tried to pull it down to no avail. I figured I could shoot the stub holding it from being pulled towards the camera, but after fifteen 12 gauge slugs tore the stub all apart, the branch still wouldn't move with either small tractor or 3/4 ton pickup loaded with blocks for weight.

Gotta get out the chain saw and go carefully, I guess.

I wish we still had that dozer... :x

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks that way. :D

A PPSh-41 & spam can of ammo trims the shrubs pretty well for me. That looks like a Beech tree. They can be stringy.

Us ordinary people can't get that kind of stuff, though, can we?

(I remember teenage farm kids signing for dynamite at the local hardware store in the 1960's, but I'm sure times have changed...)

The Mossberg didn't fail you. Sounds to me like an ammo problem. The slugs are too soft to get much penetration. Try a 44 Mag loaded with some 300gr hard cast wide meplats. I shoot down "widow-makers" like in your picture quite often.
