OT: Interesting story for you...

Post by nralover »

I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just
finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tire made him lose an hour of
work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton truck refused to
start..

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me
in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly
at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. . His face was
wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a
kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got
the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

"Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied "I know I can't help having
troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong
in the house with my wife and the children..So I just hang them up on the
tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in
the morning I pick them up again." "Funny thing is," he smiled," when I come
out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember
hanging up the night before."

I am not a sappy story guy- but man that fella is living life right! We all have precious few that are truly on our side- better treat them right and enjoy them while we can...

Nice story of which I should take heed to. I sometimes have a hard time of letting go aggravation, especially if it comes from people. Thanx---Sixgun

Hmmm, maybe I can plant a trouble forest!

Of course, given my propensity for getting into trouble inside the house, I'll have to add a tree indoors too!

Good post nralover!!! :D

Jeremy,

I just pointed out to myself that nobody at home was wearing a uniform! Made a big difference to me. But now, I make the mistake of thinking that anybody might care about my little civilian problems. I guess I'm going to have to put a trouble tree by the door, too!
Sincerely,

That is a good post. Who thinks these things up? I had a boss once who told me he woke up every morning expecting problems almost welcoming them. He said it made his day more pleasant and tolerable. I new a guy once who said any day above ground was a good day. Sound wisdom. 1886.

You didn't make them wear uniforms?!? My brother always teased me that my kids would grow older, they'd simply advance in rank!

Many years ago, when I was stationed on Parris Island, the DIs that I was aquainted with had a similar ritual that they used to call "taking off the hat".

:)
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.
