Marlin 57M seen at Gun Show, $350 a fair price

Post by Hobie »

What do you reckon? Wonderful, 95% condition EXCEPT somebody had installed some butt-ugly sling swivels.

If it's the rifle you want, go for it. If you want a nice 22M, look for a 9422M, or a Marlin 1894 in 22 mag. I just never cared for the Levermatics.....I just don't think they're worth what they fetch these days.

I think they're kinda cool. I passed one up last spring for $220. that was mint. I'd already spent $350 that day and didn't want to empty my wallet completely. Now I wish I had.

$350 seems kinda high but I've seen them go for more than that on Auction Arms.

I couldn't bite at that price myself or I'd be posting a photo! If it had been around $300 (or I could have talked him down some) it might have come home with me. I don't care to have another .22 mag unless it was a Levermatic just because I don't have one. BUT I'm not dying to have one either!

Hobie, I paid $380 for one this summer. It was came with a scope and was in better condition than I expected when it arrived; I'd have to call it mint. It loads and shoots very well, and I've encountered No problems so far. At the time I felt the price was too high, but I had been wanting a 22mag for three years, so I bit. IMO they are very nice shooters. Tom

If it wasn't for the sling swivel holes it would be a fair price, and maybe even better in that condition. I'd say with ugly swivels, and the holes to go with them, it's a bit overpriced.
