94 B.B .375 accuracy

Post by 1886 »

Anyone care to share a favorite cast bullet accuracy load for the 94 .375? I would be interested in bullet size and profile and hardness, powder and weight, velocity if you know, and cases used. If you know the twist of the rifle used that would certainly help. Have you heard of these rifles being finicky? I ask these questions because the early(late 70s) 94 B.B. interest me. I have limited trigger time with the 94s. Thanks in advance. 1886.

the lyman 264 gr sized .377 shoots pretty good out of mine.
I have used IMR 4198 and AA5744.the sweet spot is around 1500-1600 fps.
with the hornady 220 gr 36.0 grs RL-7 is the most accurate load so far.my BB is a very early one.a winchester not a usra :D .I have only used it on deer so far.I have never had to track on yet.bang/flop with my cast and the hornady sp.

Win. 94 Big Bore 375 Win. Williams FP rear sight.

Favorite cast bullet load: Lyman 375449. Cast of my wheel weights weighs 270 grains. Sized .377 in a Lyman 450. Hornady gas checks. Hodgens alox lube. 32 grains of AA MR 223, Win. brass, CCI 200 primers. Velocity 1700 fps. Groups less than 2 inches at 50 yards.

Although you did not ask, my favorite jacketed load is: Hornady 220 FP. 37.5 grains of AA MR 223, Win. brass, CCI 200 primers. Velocity 1840 fps. Groups less than 1.5 inches at 50 yards.

Both bullets are seated to crimp in the cantilure.

Good luck with your BB.
