OT: What's Your Favorite Western...

Post by Bogie35 »

Hey everybody. If you haven't noticed by now, I love to talk about favorites.

What are your all-time favorite western flicks?

Mine are:

"Outlaw Josey Wales"
"Little Big Man"
"Lonesome Dove"

In that order!

Humbly,
bogie

Lonesome Dove is my favorite. I like a lot of the ones already mentioned, but I will say, one that is not mentioned very often is one of my favorites "Culpepper Cattle Company".

Yojimbo & Sanjuro...

Oh, you mean the Remakes. (Fist Full of Dollars = Yojimbo)

The whole Man with no Name series

and Unforgiven.

and then the Remake of the Remake

Last Man Standing (= Fist Full of Dollars = Yojimbo)

but maybe my most favorite 2 "westernies" are:

The Frisco Kid (link) (GeneWilder as a Rabbi and Harrison Ford as the Lovable Rogue)
&
Blazing Saddles - No explanation necessary. Hey, where's the white women?

If you want to watch some pretty amazing filmmaking & "revisioning" that maintains total integrety to the original story, watch Yojimbo, Fist Full of Dollars & Last Man Standing back to back to back.

Eastwood and Willis can't hold a candle to Mifune.

"My name is nobody" is on my list of three favorite movies of all time. I don't know that I'd say it's my favorite western, or that it rates high as a movie, but it's special to me. Henry Fonda's last western, it's like two movies in one (unfortunately, because the "comedy" half of the movie actually takes away from what would otherwise be a great film)

I've got over 90 John Wayne movies plus Once Upon a Time in the West and a couple of others, I don't know if it's possible to pick a favorite, but I guess I watch El Dorado the most.

"Hold it Milt, there's only three people with his kinda speed, One's me, Ones dead, and the other is Cole Thornton."

"There's a fourth", "Which one are you?", "I'm Thornton".

"Hold it Mississippi, Likely spot to try out that new gun" BOOOOM
"Can't miss with that!"

What the heck is acifedida?

"Kroten oil, I'll be a suck egg mule, do you know what that stuff will do to a fella?", "Guaranteed to kill or cure"

"Cole, one got away", "You oughtaknow, you missed him"

"They laughed at him Mississippi, that'l make the difference"

I think I know what I'm going to watch tonight

My wife hates it when I recite the lines in these movies before they say them
