I think Vaughn Monroe was the first, or one of the early ones to record it. There was a western made (circa 1955?) that used his recording as background music. Which one?

Hey, Great stuff here. I too love that old song. This post got me curious and I looked at the wiki link. Down at the bottom of their page I found this great link on the classic Ghost Riders In The Sky Song, which contains some neat info and pictures. Also, if follow the site a few pages in, some good stuff about Robert Duvall and others who've done westerns, which may be of interest to folks like us. Here's the link:

I still like One Note Johnny's version. By the way, Sam Elliott stole the scenes in the movie. That man is a great actor.
