??OT-Remington SPR22 Double Rifle??

Post by CEMENTHEAD »

Any of the people here ever seen one of these rifles? Remington imported them from Russia and advertised them for only 1 year ( I think 2006). They only listed 2 calibers 30-06 and 45-70. Really I'm interested in the quality moreso than the availibility. Thanks, Tom

Made by Biakel I think. Biakel use to be the butt of many a joke over here for years but it was unfounded really as they have allways made robust guns. All the ones I have owned have never failed and I use a super imposed 410 of theirs now. The allways look a bit plain but for the Rem connection they are smartened up some. I,d guess they are just fine.

:?: That looks like the one I saw in pictures. I'm looking for hands on experience with them to see if there worth buying. You guys know... something different to play with.

Last I heard they didn't import very many due to some issues.

Not sure they were ever produced, I tried getting one several time, Remington kept telling me that they didn't have any in yet.

[what kind of issues did they have?]

The issues were that they never made it into the US, either by Remington import or earlier when EAA had the franchise.

I know, because I put down a 100% deposit on two, 1 .45-70 & 1 .30-06, when they were introduced, waited 10mos before getting my dealer, his distributor & EAA all on the same conference call to find out when my order would be filled.

I ended up getting a 100% refund, and went on to something else from my dealer.

:( Well thanks for the info, I really had my heart set on the 45-70 version. I definately can't afford one of the primo double rifles from Europe. I guess it was a safari dream/ fetish sort of thing. Thanks, Tom

The Baikal doubles made it into the UK, Canada and Australia - odd that there is a hitch in the US.

How difficult would it be to bring one across the border from Canada?
