OT - Blackpowder Revolver display rack ?

Post by rock-steady »

I would like to build some kind of display rack or shadow box to put my 1858 Remington (Pietta brass-frame) on the wall. Would any one have a picture of a revolver displayed this way to give me some idea about size, shape etc :?: How about a revolver with a sword & scabbard too. Anyone have anything like this?

Dont have anything like that but it does sound cool. I like the sword and saber idea esspecialy if you have a holster and cartrage box to go with the pistol.

Sounds like a neat idea, being a Civil War nut myself.
Please post pics when you can.

Any of the home centers (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) will cut glass to pretty much any size you'd want - certainly the size to display a revolver or a revolver and a sword. Sounds like a fun project!

Good luck! :D

I dont have a rack that holds the gun into position, however, I have an 1860 Pieta that I have displayed in my gun room. It sits on a small shelf thats about 18" wide and about 4 or 5" deep. If you take and groove the shelf on the top where no one can really see it, you can have the gun sitting on the butt and end of barrel with the hammer/ frame leaning against the wall behind it. I would post a pic of how mine is displayed, however I havent quite got the hang of posting pics.

I'm in the process of making a simple one for one of my antique sixguns. An 8 x 12" piece of oak, edges beveled, with two oak pegs that you buy in the hardware store, stained with Provincial oil stain, then finished with oil-based Varethane.

Here's a picture of a glass top end table made from barnwood. It doesn't detail the table much but there may be an idea here.

My dad had a shadow box that I'd forgotten about until I saw this post. His was for an 1860 Army Colt. it was built to hang on a wall and the front was on a hinge to gain access. It had one dowel that came out of the back for the trigger. The vertical side had another dowel to fit down the barrel to keep the pistol upright.

Thanks for the memories,
Rusty <><
