This one goes in the "must see" file. I've always been an Eastwood fan, especially his westerns. This one looks like something most of on this forum will be able to identify with . Thanks for the link.

That's always how I like to see myself... though I look nothing like Clint

I wonder if I'd have the balls to be like that.

I'd rather not find out but if a gang is terrorizing my neighborhood and the police are nowhere to be found...

Great movie - I'm definately going to see that one!

Oh and before anybody beats me to it - saw a Sprinfield 1903 and a Colt 1911 - the machine gun the gang used to hose the house was probably a Mac-9.

I heard a review of the movie on the radio last night. The reason for the tittle which might sound kind of stupid is because that's the car that Clint's character has in the movie and the gang tries to rip it off.

I had a Ford Gran Torino back in t he 70's. What a steaming pile of excrement it was. The Torino GT500 I had before it was a lot better machine.

Didn't they put like a 390cu in those things?

Wow, I had a '72 Gran Torino. Big, fast, and a wonderful road car. Drove it from Fl to Ca in March of '77. That was probably one of the funnest road trips my wife and I have ever taken, and there have been quite a few. Mine was dark blue 2 door with a vinyl top. It had a 351 Cleveland with 4 bbl carb. Man could that thing move. Seems like Clint has good taste in both cars and rifles.

My 73 Gran Torino had a 351 Windsor. Lots of pollution control tin cans under the hood. Slow, unreliable. My 71 Torino GT500 had a 351 Cleveland & 4 barrel carb. Stock it had 300 horse power. Fast & fun & durable.

Yea, I saw the Gran Torino in the previews, but it's still a stupid name for a movie. People will think the movie is about a car.

I also had a '72 Gran Torino, and loved it. Had a lot of great times in that car; very reliable, pretty fast and a whole lot of fun.
Sold it when I went to Germany (Army) in 1978. Man, I wish I still had it... To this day, if I catch even the slightest glimpse of even PART of a Gran Torino out of the corner of my eye, I automatically register it... example, saw just the rear fender of one with a tarp over it, across a 4-lane highway, 100+ yards across open ground, in someone's car-port, through a small gap in roadside bushes while driving 50 mph, and instantly knew it was there. Any other car, I'd never have even known there WAS a car there. I am going to enjoy the HECK out of this movie!! :D

Looks like there is some situations that arise in this film where he once again could ask the question----"How lucky do you feel today?,--punk". I would bet that if the L.A. police department turned the local citizenry loose on street punks who roam and pillage their neighborhoods, there would be little problem after about one week.

Clint's always been a favorite actor of mine. From his spaghetti westerns to Heart Break Ridge, he plays a good tough guy. I blame him for my love of S&W model 29's.

The Torino was a bit smaller and lighter than the Gran. With the same engine I had, it must have really scooted. A bit light for a good long distance road car, but nice just the same.

Slimster, I think Clyde would certainly be miffed if he heard you referring to him as "a monkey". I swear I heard him say in one of those movies, "I'm as human as the next guy!" I really like the styling of that Torino. The 390 was a poor excuse for a performance motor, but you put that Cleveland 4-barrel in it & you've got one VERY warm package! jd45

jd45, you're right, and my apologies to Clyde! I guess I just was referring to Grandma's statement "Phyllo, that *&@#% monkey's been eating my *&@#% Oreos again" Truth be told, seems to me like Clyde showed more intelligence and humanity in his role than the gang punks do in this latest flick!

No problem, I did misspell "Garand" and that is what I ment. What I was saying is that Clint Eastwood has always used the biggest gun, dirty harry had his model 29 and then an auto-mag, and Josie had his colt walkers so when It comes to a evil battle rifle I am very impressed with the garand choice.

Lever, don't feel bad. You think with all the technology on this edition of Leverguns (what are we now, V 3.0 or V 4.0, I loose track!) that we would have a spell checker! I confess, I am LOST without one! By the way, I think I have heard the acronym before, but what is an EBR?

Hey Tutt,

If you were using Firefox for your browser you'd have a spell checker built right in :D :D

I never leave home without it.

IIRC in the first Dirty Harry movie didn't Harry use a .458 Win Mag for a sniper rifle to try and shoot the perp off another building?

I think I read an article about the director of those Dirty Harry movies. He is a gun lover as well. At the time I read about him he was taking a liking to the .44 Automag.

Rusty, didn't know that about Firefox. We use that for work but I haven't seen that function (but then again I'm not posting on forums when I work either!). I will look into that. I'd like to know more about Harry and that 458 Win Mag. If that's true, that is so cool!
