Rather than hijack JimT's thread I shamelessly stole this pic from it:
I've never seen magazines like this, has anybody used them? If so how do they work? Seems like a waste of funds to stock up on them for a weapon that could be used in a combat situation to me, the gubmint would have to keep the grunts supplied. Otherwise it would be a short skirmish.

AR mags are a dime a dozen, easy to find and cheap enough. Just buy Magpul and you'll be happy.

Yep! and if you buy metal, make dang sure the bottom of the mag says, "Colt". Those mags do look like mag pul....maybe it's a variation.---6
Re: Who makes these AR15 accessories?
Those are Gen 3 Magpul P-Mags with window. They are available with or without the window.
They are excellent mags, regarded by many as the best available. They sell for between 12 and 15 bucks depending on where and how many you buy.
They actually have been adopted by the military. Marines I believe.

Magpul mags. Thanks. I know how to make an AR-15 / M-16 go bang, but know next to nothing about the accessories available for them.

What he said, Magpul brand gen 3 mags
With the optional Ranger Plate on the bottom so you can grab them out of the mag pouch easier. (or you can look like tactical Teddy, whatever)
Magpul makes good stuff, website here: https://www.magpul.com/
By way of recommendation, USMC signed a 12 mill plus contract with them as a magazine supplier.
That was after Colorado enacted their dumba$$ magazine law and Magpul left for Wyoming.
Magpul makes more than AR mags, check them out. Nothing I've seen of theirs is not well built or better.

I have MagPul without the window. But never thought I needed the window as my bolt locks open on the last shot to remind me to reload.

One of the few 'plastic' magazines that seem to work reliably even if left loaded for extended periods.
