Gotta do two! One has been the holy grail since I was a kid in Montana(and I'm sure shrapnel has it LOL)a 1886 octagon full length mag in 45-70. The one I desire right now is a octagon barrel Marlin 1893 in 32-40, want one bad,,,but limited funds right now due to this falls elk and mulie hunt.

Rick stated in the show the rifle was from the early 1890s and in one shot it clearly showed on the top flat of the barrel W C F just couldn't figure out which one.

I played with a set up like that years ago. It would do a fair job off peeing through 22 ammo and make a lot of noise but a couple 25 round mags didn't last real long with that crank. It did seem pretty reliable though.

Thanks guys, with the info you provided I was able to go to the local GS and talk with some idea of what I was speaking. I got a fiber optic front sight that sdid bring it down to just about the right height with this load. I am pretty sure I'm gonna get the tller ramp also because the reciever sigh...

NICE FISH! I got a 20 inch rainbow in the first couple of minutes this morning and then it pretty much quit. I did have a couple of happy fishermen though, I made fried donuts on the bank of the creek and hot donuts and coffee, made for a good day even in the mist

Hey Six, yes it is detrimintal to the accuracy, BUT I put a piece of inner tube around the tube where the bi pod attaches and it made it better. The cody museum is the place to find out if it is a real factory custom gun or if it is a made up of parts, gun. If you send them the fee and it comes back as having left the factory as is, it is worth considerably more than if the local gunsmith in 1934 didn't have the right part so he put these on...

I would take the gun I think it is shooting ok for the first load you tried in it. I think that 22s are the most finicky critter out there when it comes to ammo, I have had guns that would be lucky to hit dirt with one brand and shoot great groups just by changing ammo. I also shoot a 38-55 and my thought is..buy the longer brass and you can trim it to EXACTLY the length your rifle needs/wants. Much harder to make the short stuff longer. Tom ...and you will love that caliber it is becoming my favorite lever caliber. 9-10 grains of Unique

Well I learned sumtin today. I have the same front sight on my 1894 with the 26 inch round barrel, I thought it was something homemade. WHADDAIKNOW. Ok so can anybody tell me what rear sight would go well with it? The rear on mine is filed down to almost nothing. Thanks guys. Tom

Rube thanks for posting that. It is a 1966 receiver with a numric arms 30-30 barrel that Jes reboring took out to 38-55. The wood is a brand new kit I bought off ebay, that I did a little work to. Shoots minute of milk jug out to 200 yards with the lee 250 grainer and 9.5 grains of unique. And pleas...
